gosh .. years ago .. i used to get my hair permed all the time .. it's already 'wavy/curly' .. but i loved it when it was 'boingy' looking .. haven't done that in years .. hmmmmm .. might be fun to try again. do you gurlz PERM your hair?

is your hair naturally straight or curly?

do you 'color' it?

mine is naturally wavy/curly .. especially when it is wet and air-dried .. and i LOVE color .. and play around with different shades all the time.

how's about you?

Oh how I used to love my perms. Frannie, I, too , have curly, wavy hair and a perm would make it curly (got rid of the wavy.) Which I preferred. It's been years since I had a perm. Not since I discovered flat irons! Straight hair now, if I have the time. Otherwise, on "natural" days, it's back to curly AND wavy.

Early 90's but I must say I miss them!
They are coming back b/c my 15 year old daughter wants one and I see quite a few girls in school have gone from pin straight to curly.

Mine has enough "boing" without a perm! I have a whole lot of curl Frannie. I have TRIED, unsuccessfully, to have it straightened a time or two over the years. I tried to give up color, but turns out blondes DO have more fun! By the way, I love your wild hair Frannie!

I had a perm last summer- they always last longer than I want. I am bound and determined to wait this time until it is long enough to do a spiral.

When I was nine years old. I wanted it for my birthday and looked okay but never got one again. My hair is fairly wavy/curly anyhow and I wish it wasn't as I hate to deal with the frizz and "helmet head" look. I don't color...yet.

I have super curly hair, so I actually relax it in order to tame the frizz and take the kink out. So...reverse perm for me!

I think the last time was around 1990 when I was 12. Then I got into coloring my hair in high school and beyond. I quit coloring my hair a couple years ago when I started growing it out. I did some rag curls a couple weeks ago and that was really fun. Curls without the commitment!

I had my hair permed during part of the 80's. My hair is normally straight and fine, so it usually turned out frizzy. Those crazy 'dos back then....big hair!

the last perm i had was the only one i liked and i did it myself. i was 16 and used a home permkit and spiral rollers...i had the wonderful bouncy curls i've always wanted. unfortunately, like every other perm i've ever had (with the exception of one HORRABLE one) it came out in about 3 weeks. the horrable one lasted for the better part of a school year and i hated my mom until it finaly went away.

Anyone remember the home Toni perms?? I'd get sucked into one of those every so often when I was a kid. So the perm rods come out and well maybe it doesn't look so bad. And then it starts to DRY...and it gets bigger, and bigger and BIGGER...ended up looking like a mutant poodle. Geez, the fish hook ends and talk about fried hair. No such thing as hair gel to tame it in those days. Talk about traumatized!

I was in my late 20's and my best friend did it. Yikes. I don't know what I was thinking..we were being silly and our husbands were both out of town so we put the kids in front of a movie and she permed my hair..luckily it was long and I was able to trim off the worst of it. She had never done a perm before and hasn't done one since. At least we have a fun story to tell.
My hair is real long and naturally wavy..and gets wavier the older I get. Weird, huh???. I never have colored it except one time withe a rinse out home haircolor..no one noticed so I never did it again.

When I was 13, I'm 32 now. It was at the beauty school in Grants Pass, Or. A pregnant lady did the first half, then she was feeling sick, and another lady finished the other half. So half was beautiful, and the other half looked like a poodle. The funny thing is that since then, I have really curly hair. I dunno if it was the perm or an adolescent change.

Let me think...hmmm...1989, I like how it looked when they first undid the rollers but then she started layering it and I ended up with a really big bubble looking pouf!!! I have had a few body waves when my hair was shorter to get some height and movement, since my hair is very thick and heavy. My hair is naturally straight but takes to perms really well. I was actually thinking about getting another one now, something to add body. I noticed as I get older, my hair is losing its spring.

I color every 4 weeks. I have had a streak of white hair since I was 16 and I do not honestly know what my true color is anymore..ha!!!

I really would like to try a real vibrant red. My hair is short right now and I think it would be fun. Hmmmm- might head to Wally world tomorrow.....
