I know prices of stamps goes up every year. But I am just programmed to writing letters. Real letters, handwritten with personal notes to each person. I just wrote a seven page letter to my Grandmother describing my entire last month. I have done this since I was little. She doesn't have internet and even if she did, I wouldn't do it different. She keeps all the letters she receives in a package, ribboned off each year. When I do Christmas cards, I don't do that new fad of sending everybody a synosis of the whole year printed out for each card. Just wondering if anyone else does?

I love deadlines. I especially like the whooshing sound they make as they go flying by. ~anon

I have been craving buying a fountain pen, does anyone else write with a fountain pen?

I forgot the model that I want, I read about it in a book about writing....I'll have to get back with that info.

I love writing letters and sometimes the mail is the highlight of my day. I have had penpals since I was nine years old and I am still writing to a penpal that I have had since I was thirteen years old (that means we have been writing for 12 years). I now write to about five people and it is usually once a month or so, except for a friend that I write to once a week. I love stationery and cards and have huge piles of both! lol

Heather, this is Hannah....we commented about Gladys Taber recently, wanted to let you know that today I bought an Ideals Magazine, you are probably familiar with those...this is an old Valentine's issue and when I got home I was pleased to find a two page article REMEMBERING GLADYS TABER. It is posted to my Picture Trail webbsite, I'm in the process of adding and removing photos tonight but it's on there to see if you are interested.

HEATHER,
thanks for the memory of Cape Cod - where Glady's Taber's farm STILLMEADOW was. I checked everyone of her books out of the library when we lived on Cape Cod, they were absolutely wonderful. I now have her MY OWN COOK BOOK (with my favorite pork chop/cabbage recipe) 1972 but it is not in the story form you talk about - those are the best! but she does make comments after every recipe that are fun.
As a result of her books I have a dear friend who I email daily doing the same thing...we write about our day, our lives, our children and what we are making for supper. We have so much to talk about until it leaves no room for unhappy thoughts.
Thanks again, haven't heard about Gladys Taber in years. Hannah

It's www.crane.com

I keep saying I'm going to save up and buy stationery there, but I always break down and go for someplace less expensive.

Oh Thanks Jennifer!! I am drooling over the website...

I remember when I read Gladys Taber's book, she wrote back and forth with friend who I believed lived in Pennsylvania. I would love to be able to to do that, write about the happenings of my month, just to say hi, send a recipe, etc...

Cheers,
Heather

I love writing letters. I have a stationery addiction - I drool over the Crane's website all the time!

I love writing letters via snail mail. It is just so special when you send a letter and the one who receives it know you have taken time to think of them and include them in your life. I use to write to two of my aunts. The one has passed away now but I do keep in touch with the other. She is house bound and I know she appreciates hearing from me about all we are doing and about my children and grandchildren.
Isn't it a wonderful pick me up when you receive a letter knowing someone is thinking of you?

I also love to write letters on pretty paper, Over the years I've had many pen-pals but with the coming of kids my letters have not been as long as I would have liked them to be and sadly most of my penpals have dropped off.

I love writing letters too! I write my grandmother to let her know what is happening with us. And many of my farmgirl friends I like to handwrite letters to even though we all use email. I swear I think better with pen and ink!

Hey Sherri, I wish I had time to do more, ugg, this is one of the drawbacks of living in a busy city. I do have time for a few and I add my own art, stickers, and other things I can think of to jazz it up, which I think makes it much more personal...sort of like a keepsake, with a letter :D

I love to write letters. In fact, I have one going to the soldier I adopted tomorrow. I have pretty handwriting, and I love the mystique of recieving handwritten items--initially, I was going to type him a letter on the computer, but my husband said, "no, handwrite him a letter, it will mean more"...and it did :).

I do Sherry. I write letters to my mom every month, send birthday cards, get well cards and Christmas cards. When ever I can, I chose the stamp to go with. And I alsoi keep the cards I get every year in a special drawer, the packet tied with a ribbon. And regularly, I re-read the cards, just for the pleasure.
