So I have this hankering for making my own. I'm sick and tired of commercial pop and how bad it is for you. HFCS and all that. BLECH. I'm trying to be healthier. Slowly and surely I really really want to eat all organic. It's so hard on the east coast when weather is bad. Any help on that and making my own pop or drinks?

blue sky has a great organic rootbeer and cola. They are made with cane sugar not HFCs.

What Patricia just described is the same as the "Italian soda" you can sometimes get at coffee shops. Just a shot of syrup (like you would add to coffee) plus either carbonated water or ginger ale.

Check out the soda they carry at health food stores, too. Don't know if there's one that I would say is "good" for you, but maybe more natural ingredients?

I gave up pop when I worked at a health food store, 12 years ago. I use carbonated water and fruit juice or a simple, flavored syrup when I crave fizz.
