Homemade mittens? If so, can you recommend a easy to follow pattern? I want to try to make some for my daughter and a few friends. I'm not sure I'm ready to knit a pair just yet, so I'm talking the polar fleece/sewing type mittens.

Hat pattern or suggestions too?

I'll post in the crafts section as well.

Thanks o' mighty crafters! I bow to your expertise!

Linda, I made some mittens and a hat out of polar fleece without a pattern. It's super easy. For the mittens I simply drew them out in the size I wanted on a piece of paper and used that as my pattern and just sew them together.

For the hat, I cut a piece of fleece 10" wide (so it could have a rolled headband). I sewed the two ends together to make a "tube". Then I tied a piece of fleece "ribbon" that I made around one end of the tube to close it and snipped the end of the gathered part to look like a sort of fringe or pompom.

It was so easy, I surprised myself! If I can do it, anybody can. Have fun!
