I thought I'd ask my Farmgirl friends about ideas for my son's room...I hope that this is allowed!?
We are on a budget, He wants tractors...Any ideas? I have looked on Etsy.com and have seen some really cute items, I'm hoping to go buy from Etsy..I'm going to go to a Antique store and see if I can find a sign to put in his room. I can stitch up a pillow but making a quilt scares me for some reason...LOL...I have to get over this fear

Lol This reminds me of my 23 year old ex who had a whole room in jd colors and things. There's so much out there. Honestly rungreen.com has good deals. Check it out and just look for etsy stuff because I want to do that when I have a son. Love it. Good luck we want to see pics!

My nephews room is in complete John Deere. They painted it green and then put border in John Deere. They got little shelfs and painted them yellow. Their beds have the John Deere comforters on them and then plain green and yellow sheets. You can get smaller tractors to display or play with at Walmart or Tractor Supply Store. Sometimes in antique malls or flea markets you can find the tin signs that advertise John Deere or have a picture. I like the calendar idea as well. I just got a calendar for like $5. You might be able to get one for free at your local John Deere dealer. It really depends on the store.
You can also take one of those cheap clocks, take out the sheet with the numbers and replace it with a photo of a tractor. I've seen that done on a home show. Or - Cracker Barrel has the clocks that make tractor sounds each hour if there is light that hits it.
You can also hang up John Deere caps on hooks to hang on the wall.
Oh - Michaels Craft store had a table and small chair set a while back. I painted them green and then drew and painted the John Deere emblem on the seats and table. I put each of their name on the back of the chair. They still use them over the years.
LTD Commodities catalog usually has all kinds of John Deere stuff for kids in it. You can also look on http://www.johndeeregifts.com and click on Kids. Then click on Toys & Furniture. They have a bookshelf, toy box, and more.
You can also get a light switch plate that is in John Deere.
I'll try to think of some more ideas for you too.

Heather I made pillow cases for my little great nephews, they absolutly loved them any time they were laying around in the floor they had to have their pillows, I think Lindas idea for the Blanket is great to

I've seen John Deere calendars - maybe frame a few of those to decorate his room with? This time in Janauary I'm sure you could find a calendar CHEAP. |

I made my little boy an apron and put a John Deere fabric pocket on it! Very boyish and he loves it. Use very simple one piece pattern, hem it and go.

Hi! I have used John Deere fabric about one yard or little longer and no piecing, just put an old blanket on the back...tie it all together...makes a quilt. Either 2 or 3 layers...not too hard when it is small...a 3 year old can still use crib size.

Can you get pictures of tractors and farm type things from a cheap coloring book and have them blow up and trace them onto the walls and paint them.
Take inexpensive buckets in the yellow and green or get wooden one's and paint them and hang them on the wall to store stuff- make it look like a feeding station. You could even use those green plastic window boxes.
Look for overalls, boots, cowboys hats- etc at Good will and hang on hooks on the wall as art.
I have used paint sticks to make a free picket fence before. I ran it just across the bottom on the one window in the room. You could paint his name on it or number them for learning, write abc's, etc...
I see John Deere bedding all the time at Target and Walmart, Use the sheets to make curtains or upolster a chair or make smaller pillows.
Decoupage wooden items like a table, chair, dresser- undercoated in yellow with green knobs or something.
I would say if you plan it right, you could get away with spending between $75 and $125 to complete the whole room.

Make a fleece throw for him. They are some different JD prints. My daughter, who also is on a very tight budget, made blankets for her kids and me too. Mine has horses. We also have pillowcases made by knewslady from this forum. I have a picture somewhere on this forum of the blanket. The craft stores have the metal JD signs--at least here they do. And we have a Tractor (John Deere) store here. I bet you could find one around where you are. Endless possibilities. Hope this helps. Paint is super cheap and I'll bet a little green and yellow paint would go a long way to making a room feel "John Deere-y", Heather.
