DROOOOOOOOOOL!!!! Wow Jenny that is absolutely gorgeous! You are going to have so much fun putting your treasures into it and bringing it to life that much more. Our old farmhouse has really skimpy closets and no linen storage so I would love to have an armoire like this one some day. I'm inspired! thanks for sharing! ~julia

Janice is right, the wood does glow. It's a beautiful piece. Make sure you take another picture for us when you get it loaded up with your stuff!
And let us know how many times you take it all out and rearrange it again...that would be me!

Hey, you could take pictures each time you rearrange, and then we could all vote on what arrangement looks best (haha).

WOW, Jenny! That is one beautiful piece of furniture! The wood just glows. I'm very happy it waited just for you. I agree with everyone else about the date.

You are so sweet Luzy!! Mona will be thrilled. Looks like she is in heat once again today...sigh. The AI guy will be trying again tomorrow. Now we are looking at an early November calf. Jeesh!!
I bet your wardrobe is pretty too..how funny that we both got one so close to the same time...great cousins think alike, right?? Did the socks get there yet??? If not you should get them any time..I mailed them off Weds.

Hi Cuz! You aren't going to believe this, but I just got a similar wardrobe just a few weeks ago! It's not as pretty as yours, looks to have had a rough life but I still love it. Tell Miss Mona to lookout for the mailman. I just sent her a postcard today. Congrats on your wardrobe, it's beautiful! Love ya, Lu

Very very pretty Aunt Jenny, I would be excited too. You must take a picture when you get it in place with your stuff in it. Because being women we want to see.

Hey Jennie,
Have you checked for a lion and a witch in that wardrobe?
Aunt Jenny Posted - Jan 26 2008 : 12:37:44 PM
I paid a whole lot less than that for it....a whole lot less than half that for it. I think I wouldn't want to sleep with the demon's dancing sort of grain either...haha.
I think 1920's is about right too...I love the style of it!

jenny .. that looks so much like one at Glovers' Station (i'll take a photo when i am next there) .. they believe it is from about the 20's or 30's ... and they are asking about a thousand dollars for it.

the one there though ..has the 'wood grain' put together .. so that EVERYONE who sees it swears you can see 'demon's dancing' .. it is an AMAZING piece (albeit .. i'd rather have YOURS in my bedroom where i have to sleep rather than the one at Glovers. xo

Jenny - it is gorgeous! I would guess probably 20's to 30's too because of the art deco look.

My guess is the same as Ronna's....1920-1930. It has an art noveau look to the decoration and the proportion. It sure is beautiful, and looks well taken care of. So happy you have it!
Jeannie

By the way, I really enjoy reading your blog. It is just like sitting down and having a conversation. Is Mona surviving the cold okay?

Thanks gals...I love sharing with you all...we all seem to love the same stuff.
Our old house (1895) is pretty closet-free and our bedroom has never had one added...husband uses the coat closet in the living room for his clothes and I have been using an ugly garment rack for 5 years. This will be my new closet!! I am so excited to use it!! I am not someone with tons of clothes really, but I culled out two garbage bags full of clothes last week in prep for getting this..I am SO relieved it was still there when I got to the store. I am afraid I might have burst into tears and scared my uncle if it were gone. I just knew it was supposed to be mine the first time I saw it. I plan to get it in the bedroom (it still sits in the front entryway now) and all my stuff neatly put in tomorrow.
Tina...no brass key..but my Uncle says he has a whole box of old keys like that so he is going to try to find one that will fit it.

Aunt Jenny, congrats! I was just reading your blog earlier this morning about you feeling you had to rush and get it before the snow got to be too much. Good for you! It's nice to see you got it in safe and sound :)

Beautiful Aunt Jenny! My guess would be 20's to 30's. Are you going to use it for quilts or storage or ?? I'd have it full in a heartbeat, as would most of us.
Good that you got it home safely in the storms that don't seem to let up at all.
