My dad called me a couple hours ago and said, "Your Mama had a little fender bender this morning".

Uh huh. After we talked for a bit he said, "Well, it wasn't really a fender bender. I just didn't want to upset you."

Turns out Mom hit some black ice and flipped her Grand Cherokee on her way to work. All I could think of was how terrified she must have been. Fortunately Keith isn't busy right now and I only had two children today, so he stayed here while I rushed off to see my mom. She's ok, but a little sore. I know she'll be really sore tomorrow - I think I'm going to take my rice-in-a-sock heating pad idea but sew it up with pretty fabric. We're going back over there tonight with the girls for supper.

What really broke my heart was that she said all she could think about is: what if Michael woke up during his accident (the report says my brother fell asleep at the wheel) and realized what was happening to him? She couldn't bear the thought of him being as frightened as she was in that moment.

I hope she takes the rest of the week off work to recuperate. She had surgery on a slipped disk about 10 years ago and it still bothers her quite a bit - I hope she didn't do any damage.

Jennifer, I'm surrounding your mother with blue healing energy and knowing she is just fine. If you want me to check in on your brother (no charge, of course), email me privately.

Thanks to everyone. I really appreciate the community we have here.

It really shook me up because my brother wasn't so lucky - about 4 years ago he fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into a tree. He was 23.

I can't bear the thought of losing another family member so soon.

How scary! Poor Mama, and look how sweet she is, worrying about your brother like that!

Oh my goodness! I am glad she's ok. And that you are close enough to go check on her. Make sure she gets lots of rest. People underestimate what a shock like that does to the body.

I'm glad your mom is ok. I've never been in a serious accident and can only imagine how scary it must be. And so sad for her to have that association with your brother. I hope she rests up and feels as good as new very soon.
