...seen SO many wonderful primitives and antiques as I have today. I have been like a kid in a candy store while at my aunt Wilma's house today. We just got through sorting through maybe a quarter or half of the stuff that she bought. I cannot believe the quality of the stuff. There are dozens of handmade pure antique baskets, fabric, chairs, and so much more. I seriously think Wilma hit the jackpot with her big find. We've been going through stuff since this morning and I'm excited to get back out there and start going through the sewing house. I've been taking photos as we go to show the progress. You could barely walk through the shop with the piles of stuff. We've worked on displays and showcases of it and it looks really good. I'm hoping to try to post up some photos on my blog or have Wilma to post up some photos tonight or tomorrow - I promise!

Hey girls...it is a snowy day here on the farm down here. We will venture out a little bit this morning to go through more stuff. I'll be sure to take some more photos, especially of the dolls. I forgot to add how many tables Wilma got. While we were going through stuff, we sold a table and moved one from off the porch in. We have so many tables that we stacked a smaller one on top of one to showcase more items.

Meeee Toooo, Miss Wilma. I'm a great "cataloger" and record keeper. I think I could have come in handy, though you may have had to snap me out of my euphoria now and again :)

Idid peak. I kept hitting "refresh" until something new popped up :)...Boy howdy do I wish I was right there with you! I'd love to see the wheelbarrows for sure. How neat that one says "Sterling" ...of COURSE you have to keep that one!!!
So excited to hear about some of the "mystery objects"...I know I have difficulty too, when going to shops. I know some things, and I think I've seen them in use in my Great Gran's kitchen or whatever, but often I just sketch at what they are. Yay!!! I can't wait!!!

Oh I got to tell you, we put a 3-bushels worth of dolls in a large primitive cotton basket. There are lots of Raggie Ann and Andy dolls in it. Aunt Wilma said that those weren't antiques to her, so she threw them in the basket. Her best dolls are in chairs and set up in all kinds of settings.
She got those goods from a well known antique shop down the road. She literally bought the whole shop, loghouse, and basement plus upstairs right out from under a bunch of other antique dealers around here. I'll have to tell you some stories of some very unique items that I had to go "Wilma, what is this?" Lots of history in that stuff and those photos just a small peek of the treasures she found.
That is a sled next to the chair. That chair is just too cute and we put a doll in it right after I took that photo. That sled is a rare all wooden sled and just in great condition. You should see the antique childrens wheel barrows. I'll try to take a photo of one that she kept here in the house because it says "Sterling".

I just looked you, two! Wow! Can you tell, Miss Wilma, if any were made locally to you, or in the Barren region--I'm always interested in regional furnishings, and styles local to the area. Is that a sled next to the little mustard colored chair?

Mima - it is just a wonderland in that shop!!! I swear you look at one corner and 5 minutes later you see something new you hadn't seen.
Jonni - I have the photos uploaded on Wilma's computer and I'm in the process of resizing. Will post on the blog in a few. You just mentioned fried apple pies....hmmm....

I think you two girls should sit down and take a rest. Get some hot chocolate going or some tea. I'm sure Miss Wilma's got some fried apple pies around there or something sweet to snack on. There's always tomorrow, though, admittedly, I'm very excited about seeing what history was hidden in that old home.
