Posted - Jan 18 2008 : 08:19:32 AMwell chilluns .. i ADORE Danville, Kentucky and am planning a trip there (soon's the cold weather is 'done over'!) Dr. Ephriam McDowell's home and 'medical office' is there and is open to visitors .. He is the FIRST EVER EVER EVER doctor to do 'abdominal surgery' ... he saved a woman's life .. who had a HUGE tumor on her ovary .. and her certainty was DEATH ... this was in a time before anesthetics .. she travelled by horse-back three days and three nights with that huge tumor flopped over the saddle horn! She was WIDE AWAKE and on CHRISTMAS DAY .. he performed this first-ever operation .. SUCCESSFULLY .. and ALL WOMEN who have had surgery owe their lives to him! I'm going to tour his home and have lunch at a local restaurant .. and roam their beautiful park. Don't have the date picked out yet .. gotta' wait on MIZ SPRING to poke her head through the earth!!
