ohhhhhhhhhhh .. i jus' had to show and tell this photo ...

wonderful friend, from Uncle Sam days in D.C. sent this photo of me having lunch on her 'veranda' .. to me this morning. betty (elsbeth .. is my pet name for her!) has been a friend for more years than i care to write down! oh what fun and adventures we had in our 'wild child' chapters!!! ... we even took a cross-country trip in a sportscar .. ohhhh .. and i remember we were stopped by a ... well .. let's jus' say 'southern officer of the law' (i do believe we were probably speeding) .. he came to the car .. went back to his car .. and returned with a 'warning ticket' poking out of his drawers!!! ahhhhhhhhhhh .. the good ole days!

betty and i worked at the U.S. Department of Justice together. i remember wanting a job so bad i thought i'd just EXPIRE if i didn't get it (working for the head of the Criminal Division) ... at my interview .. i was told that i was definitely SECOND choice for the job .. my boss was waiting to hear back from another applicant. (lordy! i wanted to do 'voo-doo' on that woman .. and i didn't even know her!!) i went to lunch with my gal-pal Elsbeth to cry on her shoulder and hope and pray that this other woman didn't get the job!!!

She just smiled and hugged me and told me: "the job is YOURS frannie!" i asked her how she knew .. she replied with a sweet smile: "I" am the 'demon-woman' .. and i'm taking a different job!"

oh lordy! how i love that girl!!! (she actually went to work in the Attorney General's office!) those were such great years .. but then .. they ALL are great years!
