I have a overactice, hyper speed mind- always thinking, always second guessing myself and then third guesssing for the heck of it. I know using your brains is important but sometimes I wish I could just shut of my brain and go on auto-pilot sometimes. Typical thought process for me- "oh the kitchen table is a mess so let me vacuum the living room after I unloade the dishwasher and clean the bathrooms top to bottom"- in the end, the table is still a mess. I really think I am nuts!!!

I suffered with a slight case of perfectionism and I need helping breaking this craziness!! HELP!!!

Cheers,
Heather

you girls are too funny! my family makes fun of me for alphabetizing my spices and pantry... and unfortunately my eye-sight is good so that i can see a stupid little speck of food, dirt or thread on the floor across the room. it used to drive me crazy but now i've just discovered that if you take a good magazine or book outside on the lounge chair, especially when its nice and warm and sunny (!)it helps you to forget about all that!

Here is what I tell myself and believeing it more and more.
MY BEST IS GOOD ENOUGH!!!!!!! Yep, becoming more and more a reformed perfectionist, life is too short for driving myself crazy.

LOL. I traded my "perfectionist" for OCD, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder years ago! I couldn't keep up with cleaning the whole house every day with kids, work and school too. So I made a list. Monday - clean kitchen, Tuesday - clean bathroom & laundry, Wed - Bedrooms & fold, put away laundry, Thurs - Groceries & errands, Friday - Living Room, Saturday - Laundry, Sunday - NADA! I still follow the same pattern after 14 years. I mean I tidy up and wipe down but, the heck with it! When guests come, they are directed to the room that's been done already ;)

I love deadlines. I especially like the whooshing sound they make as they go flying by. ~anon

I can't help you, either. I'll start cleaning, say the kitchen. I'll pick up a bunch of things left on the counter that either go to dd room or outside or the bookshelves in my room. I'll take those things to their respectful places and see something along the way that also needs to be done. I side-track myself all the time. Especially if it's something that has to go out in a shed or on the porch. It seems once I'm out there, I find all kinds of things to keep me out there. My house is usually a mess in the summer because of that.

I'm far from being a perfectionist. At least when it comes to housework. I learned to let that go when I was raising a family, holding a job and going to school all at the same time. Something had to go (besides my sanity) so cleaning the house was the least important thing at the time. I still seem to have many more important things to do than clean house. It's clean enough to be healthy but BH&G it is not!

I wish I could help you, Heather! But I am the same way. Only not only am I a perfectionist, I am also a procrastinator. Which is totally horrible!
