time to call on those grammies, and friends to 'do ya' a little favor' of watchin' over them whilst you
'run away' for a coupla' days of fun! ...( of course -- promise a return favor!)
cuz' this is a FRIDAY/SATURDAY gathering!
AND .. to attend this one .. ya' gotta' sign up for BOTH DAYS ..
Kiss those 'sweethearts' goodbye for a few days and head
for a fun weekend gathering of 'gurlfrenz'
t'wixt and t'ween the rolling "hills and hollers" in central-Kentucky!
Freedom Valley Farm

here's the 'plan' as it stands right now ...
Meet at Freedom Valley Farm at about 10 a.m. (fast time) .. that would be 'eastern time'!
(i'll have pb&j sammies waitin' for ya'!)
We'll hang out for about an hour .. then head for GREENSBURG
we'll hit 'glovers' station' and the
Plaid Peacock for a little 'shoppin'.
Then down the road to Cobble Stone Farms
(you're gonna' love all these places!)
THEN .. we'll head back to Freedom Valley for a little 'sittin' and sewin'
and gittin' all gussied up for a mos' wunnerful evening event!
ABRAHAM LINCOLN
will be visiting our town!!!
I believe a little sumpthin' special is being planned at Lucy Tuckers .. along with a tour of our historic village too!!!
I'll know more about the evening events soon and will let ya'll know times and dates and more info ... HOWEVER .. there were be very LIMITED reservations available .. and if you make your plans right away and know you can join us .. you'll have to get your reservation and ticket $$$ to me IMMEDIATELY .. soon's you hear all the 'particulars'!!!
The BESTEST time to visit 'our town' is when we are having one of our fun events and celebrations .. and THIS is your OPPORTUNITY!!!!
This one-man touring production about Abraham Lincoln is from the viewpoint of his law partner,
William Herndon, in Springfield, Illinos. Billy Herndon was born in Greensburg, Kentucky.
The play will be at the Greensburg Presbyterian Church.
On Saturday .. we'll get up early cuz' i have a 'surprize' day planned for everyone!
REMEMBER .. you HAVE to have attended on Friday!!!!
If you can't make both Friday and Saturday .. i'll be having another gathering before 2008 is done with!
IF you have to head back home on Saturday .. you can do so after our fun day .. AND .. if you can
hang out another night .. we'll get up and have a big breakfast .. a walk in the woods (if it's not toooo cold!)
do a little 'hand-sewin' .. then hug our fond farewells until next we meet!
We will have some fun games and prizes too!!!
E-mail me if you can attend both Friday and Saturday .. and let me know if you will also be staying Saturday night .. so's i can conjure up some Sunday 'sewie' kits for everyone!

The arrangements sound perfect to me! 10 am Friday is only a few days away, yay! Poems, blue outfit, blue shopping, antiquing, luscious lunches, history,community cooking and sewing and gabbing and hangin with the gurls!
All I need to know is the address although I have a feelin if I just head towards Greensburg and keep sayin I'm looking for Frannie I'll find you! But email it to me anyway and the number for my honey.

Frannie....honey-man Tim will be dropping me off, then he will go straight to Nashville from there and will stay w/ a couple of his buddies. Maybe next time, I can get him to stay <wink>

Workin' on more crafty goodness today. And I am looking into making a MJ Chillover treat...have to find a way to make it cooler friendly for the 5-6 hour trip to your place....I may just make something else, will see.

amy .. will your honey-man deliver you there before heading for Nashville? you know .. we have some very nice 'cabins' in the town of Greensburg if he decides he wants to hang in the area. he can stay here too .. HA! if he dares!!
i'll give you my cell phone number .. and everywhere we go will be within a two block radius on friday .. we'll start at the big antiques mall .. BIG building right across from the olde courthouse .. you CAN'T miss it (called the Woodson-Lewis building .. but it has GLOVERS STATION ANTIQUES on it .. remember .. it's just a two block town! Next, we'll probably head for Plaid Peacock (one block from Glovers Station .. and then to Lucy Tucker's for lunch .. right next door to Plaid Peacock. We'll always tell the ladies in the shoppes where we are going NEXT .. so you jus' have to say you're hunting down Frannie and Friends. They will find me. HA! they have before!! Such sweet ladies ...
a sweet story about the sweet ladies! The first year i was living in Kentucky .. before honey hunk moved here .. we had an evening event in town .. my sugars dropped low and everyone was real worried about me .. i slurred: CHOCOLATE!! GIMME CHOCOLATE!! Well, within moments i was up and hoppin' about as if nuthin' had happened. The gurlfrenz continued to worry about me .. knowing that i was living alone down in the 'holler' .. and they called me the next day ... there was no answer .. they started all calling all around town to see if anyone had seen me or heard from me. soon they had lotsa' people looking for me. when they couldn't find me .. two of the Plaid Peacock ladies, Mimi and Peggy Jones .. put a 'GONE HUNTIN' sign on their door .. locked it .. and drove the 25 mile round trip to and from my home .. trying doors and windows of the cabins and trying to rouse me. By the time they got back to town .. THERE I WAS!!!! smilin' and all happy! (i'd had an early morning meeting with the Homemaker's Extension Service .. and we'd left real early for another county.) And the neighbors up the hill from us (precious Glen and Mary) ALWAYS called me EVERY morning for that entire year before our house sold in maryland and hank moved here .. to check to make sure i was o.k.)
you gurlz are gonna' love the lovey-pies here!
p.s. i think the lady who was going to e-mail you .. her computer is constantly on the 'fritz' . you didn't get an e-mail confirmation .. cuz' .. i told her she needn't contact you all because i would let you know we all had our reservations.
HA! the other night at the Rotary Club .. our MAYOR said to me: 'Frannie .. i'm hearing that ladies keep calling for reservations to our One Man's Lincoln .. and they are all saying "we're with Frannie"! Sooo ... even the MAYOR knows you have reservations! not to worry darlin'!

I am so used to be livin' out of a suitcase...when hubby and I travel and even being in small spaces.
I wish that I did get the e-mail confirmation, like I was supposed too...but I know that I am in good hands cauz of miz Frannie and I am on da list!
Hey Frannie, when ya get a moment sometime before Wed, I will need those numbers of where we are heading on Friday, so I will be able to catch up w/ "Frannie and Friends" if I do run a tad late.

Luna darlin' .. there are 'three beds' in the tiny upstairs STRANGER ROOM .. they are YOURS, AMY's and JOY's. you'll be 'cozy' (uhhhhhhhhh .. CRAMPED) up there .. but it's jus' for sleeping .. Robin and her sister and friend will sleep on the 'cots' kinda' spread out here and there downstairs. ONE guest bathroom to share .. i've got lots of towels and lotions and potions .. jus' bring your toothbrush and scivvies! No dressers or closet upstairs for hangin' stuff .. you kids will have to live outta' your suitcase ... but the gurlz never seem to mind that. (did i mention the room is small?) (hey .. i'll take a pic of the 'stranger room' to show you ahead of time!)
Robin offered for her and friends to stay at the 'cabins in town' .. i wouldn't hear of it .. gosh .. i've had a DOZEN girls stay here and we jus' flopped where we found a spot and had a BALL!
I don't think we need 'tickets' .. jus' reservations .. and we definitely have those! (i'm on the arts council and have had a hand in pulling parts of this event together .. decorated our Historic Jeremiah Abell Log Cabin .. and will be the 'guide' on Friday night (can't do their Saturday night .. cuzzzzzzzzzz .. yes! we will be spending our WINTER BLUES shoppin' day mostly in BARDSTOWN. Saturday morning, we're going to our local little Country Club .. nooooo .. don't get EXCITED .. nuthin' FANCY .. jus' good 'home cooked breakfast'! THEN .. we'll amble up to Campbellsville to our own Pamela's BEHIND THYME shoppe which she has recently re-done! you're gonna' love her .. she has a little special surprize planned JUST FOR US!! (even I don't know what it is!) THEN .. we'll drive the back-roads through Lebanon to historic BARDSTOWN .. where our first stop will be SUGARBUCKET's ... again .. you're gonna' LOVE kathy and her shoppe .. SURPRIZE there too! (gosh .. i have such great friends here!!) .. oh .. and did i mention that on FRIDAY when we go to that darling Cathy Murray's Cobblestone Farms .. she, toooooooooo .. has a 'surprize' planned for all of us!
After visiting at SUGARBUCKET'S on Saturday .. we'll roam the streets and shop the shops. At that time .. i'll let you all know some 'options' we can do in Bardstown .. and we'll have a fun day touring the town's pioneer log cabin village and My Olde Kentucky Home if you wish to. I 'think' Kathy told me that the MUSEUMS are closed for renovation right now. HA! an excuse for you to come back again! There is a trolly town tour to the famous Heaven Hll Bourbon distillery .. that is an option too .. but not my personal fav. There are a couple DARLING children's stores in Bardstown if you wish to pick up something precious for a little one!
DINNER .. i haven't decided about yet! We can eat in Bardstown (lots of GREAT restaurants there) .. we can amble back to Campbellsville for dinner at a yummy mexican restaurant .. buffet style (what honey hunk and i refer to as 'dollar gobble' restaurants .. chinese restaurant .. we can all go to a movie that evening .. OR .. (and my FAV option) is to get back home in time for dinner and to attend: THE LINCOLN JAMOBOREE .. in Hodgenville, KY (next town over from me) and the town where Abraham Lincoln was born!!! here's a little info about Lincoln Jamboree .. and i don't think there is much a 'better' representation of 'kentucky' than this! (WE LOVE TO GO THERE!!)

The Lincoln Jamboree, 2579 Lincoln Farm Road , Hodgenville , KY 42748 , (270) 358-3545. Joel Ray Sprowls, owner, producer and emcee (I SWANEE .. I THINK JOEL RAY IS ABOUT 207 YEARS OLD!!!) has been bringing family entertainment to the area for 51 years! Billed as "Hodgenville's own Grand Ol' Opry," the entertainment takes place every Saturday night year-round, with local and regional performers topping the bill. All seats are reserved at $8, with showtime at 8 p.m. each Saturday. Joel Ray's Restaurant is adjacent to the Jamboree.
SUNDAY mornin' .. we'll all get up and cook breakfast together (unless you like BURNT BREAKFAST!) .. take a morning walk in the woods (weather and 'bodies' willing). Then .. we'll have a fun little 'dolly-making' class (i'm conjuring up the dolly bodies right now!)
We'll have pb&j sammies (can't BURN those!) for lunch before our fond hugs and kisses farewell .. until we meet again.
There was no noticeable damage that you will see. Some buildings were flattened or blown away .. but off the beaten path. I think Bardstown was spared completely.
I have a van that seats 7 or 8 .. sooo .. i'll be your 'limousine' for your entire visit here! (gosh .. better get all the antiques outta' the back of it a-fore you kids get here .. or you'll be sittin' in a rockin' chair on your ride!)
You might want to let loved ones know my address and phone number in case they wanna' reach you. If you don't know it .. e-mail me.
Feel free to bring a little sumpthin' for everyone if you wish (there are 7 of us) .. but definitely not necessary!
I 'hope' to conjure up an 'unburnt' cake and cookies and valentine candies in case you have a 'sweet tooth'.

Hiya'll
Looking forward to the gathering and wondering about a coupla things. You probably posted it this info but my brain is addled by legal nonsense and I've forgotten. What are the sleeping arrangements for Friday and Saturday? Are we pooling to Bardstown and around Greensburg? I love the idea of buying little gifts for each other since I won't have time to do much before I get there. I'll bring something but likely not homemade...
O btw I got an email confirmation but no ticket. I understand we are on a list.
Was there any damage to Greensburg and Bardstown in the storms? I'm in a non media zone mostly and only get news by phone. Hope everyone is okay.

Thanks Frannie....Oh I know, but I want too...it won't be much, just somthing small and special :-) DH has the rental car reserved and we have the maps for Kentucky/Tenn from AAA...I am so ready to come on down.

GURLZ .. decided to post here too .. cuz' i want to make sure you all get this message.
bring with you to our cabin fever gathering a favorite POEM written out (you only need one copy .. but if you want to share it with the other girls .. bring 7 copies!
SATURDAY, February 16th will be our 'WINTER BLUES' shopping trip in Bardstown. WEAR BLUE!!! There will be a prize for the best BLUE outfit (voted secretly by all the girls!) We'll play some fun 'shopping' games that day too!
I'll make a reservation for us to all have lunch at Lucy Tucker's on Friday .. so be here as close to 10 a.m. FAST (Eastern) time as you can! That will give us an extra hour .. because Greensburg runs on 'slow' (central) time!
if you want to bring a 'treat' to share while we are up talking all night .. you can do that too if you wish.
robin is bringing a big potta' chili .. i'll have cornbread and salad to go with it. pleeeeeeze let me know if you have any 'dietary' restrictions! (most meals we'll eat out .. but some here).

Joy - That is what I am thinking about too...I thought to my understanding it (the ticket) was going to be sent to my address as well as a confirmation sent to my e-mail.
Not sure why I did not get an e-mail, she said she sent me one on the 16th or 18th when I called the 2nd time....I figured she just mistyped my e-mail or something....she also mentioned their e-mail server has not been working right. I then e-mailed her Friday of last week(with the address she provided me, still no return message, so I don't know.

Lisa at the city office was supposed to have e-mailed me this Monday and has yet to do so...she did say they were having e-mail server issues...she e-mailed me and I did not get it...I then e-mailed her, nothin'yet...I hate to call and bug her again.....Thanks bunches gurls

Frannie and friends
Just wanted to let yall know that I got my ticket for the Gathering and can't wait. I've been dragged down the last week or so with some legal issues with my ex and I'm gonna have to take an unexpected trip to NJ to settle it out. Drag of drags but must be done to insure peace in my little chosen corner of the universe--beautiful peaceful Kentucky. I will be takin my stitching with me and hope to get something done in between. I will be back!

i'm so excited to be hangin' with you gurlfrenz! i'm going to make 'doll kits' .. and show you how to make 'frannie dolls' .. you can make them 'primitive' or 'prissy' .. i'll have lotsa' fabrics and vintage laces and linens to choose from! ef'fen we have time .. we'll each also make a wonderful 'candlestick pin cushion' from an antique 'crazy quilt' .. lots of fun is planned! you are going to LOVE visiting historic Bardstown and SUGARBUCKET's phenomental primitives antiques shoppe .. (the BEST in all of Kentucky .. i guarantee you!!!) (i'll be heading with Kathy to her 'secret source' next week to load up on VERY EARLY american country primitive antiques .. i usually buy for ME .. kathy buys for her shoppe!)
oh and what fun we will have in my beloved GREEN COUNTY .. gonna' visit Glovers' Station Antiques Mall .. the Plaid Peacock, Cobblestone Farms .. and have lunch at that precious Lucy Tucker's Tea Room!
and of course, a delightful town tour and reception and LINCOLN play all on Friday evenihng. We'll take lots'a pictures to share with the other City and Country Gurlfrenz!

prayers going heavenward!
p.s. did cat ever tell you the story of her visit to Crooked Tree Hollow .. where she sat up all night finishing up my marvelous 'tombstone angel' .. and in the wee hours of the morning .. my CAT .. jumped up in her lap and scared the beeeejeeezuz out of her .. she jumped .. 'pooper' (the name of our cat!!) fell and took some of cat's skin along!
here's the magnificent angel that cat taught .. one of my very most fav dolls ever taught at crooked tree hollow . .and we had some PHENOMENAL doll teachers ..
