So much news! Two weeks ago my publisher offered me the opportunity to write a book centered on the notion that like aprons, household linens carry within their fabric the stories of the women who once owned them. Daily, I set my table with a cloth and napkins that bear the initials of strangers, dry my hands on towels embroidered by someone other than me, and use hot pads sewn by another. If you collect vintage linens (napkins, hot pads, tea towels, cozies, doilies, runners, cloths, etc) and have a story to share, please email me at ellynanne@apronmemories.com, with your story as an attachment. If you'd like to be considered for the book, your story is due in a week. The book's publication in fall 2008. This book will take the place of the book I just completed, which is now set for 2009. I hope to hear from y'all!

Like Alee, I finally, finally started a blog. It's pathetic how long it took me to figure it out. The blog's linked on my website apronmemories.com . I also (finally) figured out a use for the black and white photos I've been collecting - Vintage eGreetings. The latest is a new year's greeting, the snapshot taken New Year's Eve 1954. The cards are free for the sending, you just click, personalize, and send.

I read this particular forum regularly and marvel at the number of you who place communication and community as a daily priority. I know y'all are busy, and I so appreciate if you can take the time to visit my website, write a story or read my blog. If you have only time for one thing, please read my blog dated December 24. Prayers are very appreciated.

xxEllynAnne

Thank you so much EllynAnne! I hope your son hangs in there with the teaching. There is nothing like it in the world as far as working for someone else goes! I just shut my door and do my thing, but fortunately, we have a principal who totally gets what we do in the classroom and supports us no matter what test scores say. I think after the election next year, that things will change and the craziness of the whole field will simmer down to where we can teach all day and not just test prep. At least I pray for that.

I hope everyone has a fantastic New Year. It's only 12 minutes away! And we are still awake...

Sheryl-lyn, hey! Your story is so sweet, and I mean that in the nicest way. I visited your blog, and there you are! Yea! I love when blogs show a real photo of the writer. My son Noah is a high school Spanish teacher, and if the politics of education don't do him in, he'll be a career teacher, too. What lucky students you have.

Grace, Thank you for telling me your life through linens and with such detail! It's those descriptives that help me to construct your story while retaining your voice. I feel like I know you, and when we finally meet, it'll be like greeting an old friend.

ok, I did it, I forwarded a wee story about how I use my vintage linens.
Actually it was fun to put "thoughts to pen & paper". Just hope she enjoys my
nutzoid sence of humor!
Ok ladies, now it's your turn!....

Oh wowzer!
EllynAnne, as you know I have the gift to gab!hahaha! and gab I will!
So I am putting some thoughts to pen & paper, and I will get it to you asap.
But first I need to pull out a few things, a vintage table linen, an apron, a vintage
tea cup & cookie plate,,, after all, a gal can't write w/o tea & cookies....
I'll be wearing one of my vintage aprons and laying out my vintage table cloth.
This should inspire me to "ramble" on paper.
..
