o.k. so I have ran an ad in the local advertiser about MJFarm website here..and have left the postcards by the register at my local feed and seed supply store..and then run another ad in the local paper that will run until Jan.1st., and have even given folks the website address here to MJFarm.
Met another gal today that wants to start growing veggies in her yard and so forth. So I gave her the website to MJFarm here.
But..I'm having a hard time getting area folks interested in joining up or becoming a part of a farmgirl chapter...or even visiting the site here...or finding folks in my area with like interests..cause I'm starting to feel like Naomi and I are the only ones..and well..that can't possibly be the case now can it??.... or can it?? eeek..I shudder at the thought that we may be the only ones here with a farmgirl mentality. But I'm really having a hard time finding any locals like me.
Any hints and tips would be greatly appreciated.
What did you do to find area locals with a farmgal mentality?

Heyas Tina....weelllll, if I were still in PC, this wouldn't be a problem! Yikes, life is funny like that....but, since this is a unique opportunity to advise...have you tried the local "Community Bulletin Board" on TV? I think it was PC local channel 8. If I remember correctly, they'd run ads, on after the other, on that channel, and I don't think it cost anything to mail or fax the information to the TV station. I think many of the ladies that are farmers, there, may not have or want internet access, so you might be out of luck in that department. I'd also try to advertise to the 4-H clubs, since most of those kids are gonna have mamas who are farm-interested.

I also remember my own mama telling me something about a Women's Gardening Club? Or some sort of auxilary? AND, while I'm at it, what about the farmers market? I don't think they're open now, but it's worth a shot! :)

Ok, I'll stop rambling now, but that's me two cents!

Tina-

I had the same problem when I first moved to Moscow. I was just lucky to find friends gradually. I found I ended having to be the one to put the energy behind most friendships until I found some really great farmgirl friends. Maybe you and Julie can be an Cyber Chapter and get in town members in each of your towns as people show interest?

I know how you feel Tina. I just posted on the chapter forum looking for Maryland gals like me. It seems like noone wants to start a MD chapter. Maybe I'll move close to you or Willow - then we would have some fun!!

hugs Julie..thanks. sometimes when we get older it seems so difficult to find and make decent friends..it's not quite the same as our playground school days is it?

I feel your pain. I am still a chapter of one. I have some friends that I think would love it but they aren't into the Internet. I tried to explain that we would just have meetings and they wouldn't have to get on the site that it was just an extra part of it. I think some people are just afraid of commitment. You can move near me and we can be a group!
