I know its FREEDOM FARM now, but when these pictures were taken it was CABIN CREEK.These were in the book I was looking at last night.Miss Beehaven, Janice asked me if I could post some pictures. So I did. Wish they were better, it was hard to get the light right.

OMG it's even prettier full sized. Reminds me of grandpa's old flannel shirts. Now I really do want to make one. My DD would love it too - for her farmgirl/cowgirl room.

HI Jenn,
Well I don't really know, we need a real quilt person to tell us that. It has a star pattern. My sister gave it to me a long time ago. I have several quilts that were passed down or given to me. I will take a bigger picture of it and put it on my site.

Nancy Jo,

I loved the pics on your blog, but I especially liked the quilt that the book was laying on. Can you tell me what pattern it is. I'm not a seasoned quilter, but a friend is coaxing me along and I'd really like to try that pattern.

Thanks much.

nancy .. i've been going over lots of olde Country Living Magazines .. i must have every one ever published .. and there are so many wonderful homes in them .. lots of log cabins all over the united states .. some i must admit i like even more than ours .. but they aren't located close enough to the 'chilluns'. i have quite a few friends who live in log cabins and log homes .. there is just something about an olde cabin or farmhouse that just ooooozes warmth! i love seeing how different people decorate .. i wrote an article for Mercantile Gatherings a hand-full of months ago about COLOR .. and how i do love some COLOR in my life. I have added the cheery yellows of olde yellow-ware and the restful greens of olde pottery along with the mellowed wood and aged tins. and even some 'cardinal' red peeks it's head from time to time. we have a wonderful 'woodsy' view .. but i sometimes pine for the 'mountain ranges' view we had surrounding us in our delightful home in the foothills of Colorado .. (and like wilma .. our not-too-distant neighbor was also a 'country singer' .. Willie Nelson. His girls went to school with our girls. We had the opportunity to buy the home right next door to his .. it was 15 acres .. ha! 1/2 acre was where the house was .. the other 14-1/2 acres were a sheer cliff!

In warmer weather .. i do miss the peaceful water that enveloped us (a very large river off the Chesapeake Bay) at Crooked Tree Hollow in Maryland. (We lived on a private cove .. just us .. which is very unusual in the Annapolis area). Hank could literally walk down a wooded path to 'scull' every morning. And i even remember with much fondness our little private oasis in the very heart of Denver ... a lovely olde neighborhood .. our gardens were glorious and we were allowed privacy in a beautiful and stately turn-of-the-century Denver Square home .. by a 7 foot fence that surrounded our property. So, i can't say that this is our very must 'favorite' home we've ever lived in (or even the most charming). But it is wonderful for this 'chapter' in our 'book of life'. And the fact that Kentucky is such a 'reasonably priced' place to live is great! We paid cash for our home .. soooooo .. now that we are 'retired' (what a SILLY word!) .. no MORTGAGE! The only other place i would rather live than Kentucky right now .. is closer to the 'grandes'! HOME is where the HEART is! xo, frannie

Nancy the pictures make me dream of all the good old country living magazines, One of these days I am going to have me a log cabin and I dont want anything in it except good old homemade things nothing more modern than my little wood cook stove that I cooked on when I was a child, I have enough things to furnish one now its just finding enough time to put one up.I have a very good friend in Hendersonville Tn that puts and builds log houses for the country music singers, he has 5 log cabins on top of a hill there Now guess what, the property is for sale.It is next door to Johnny Cashs log house. He and Johnny were best friends. I will sure consult Hannah whe we get ready weve been going to do it for a year but just not enough time I am so glad you posted the pictures I know it sure made Hannah happy to see the old home place. To tell you the truth I cant wait to dig my book out..See ya Miss Wilma

Janice,
Good for you, it does have a lot of pretty pictures in and nice write ups about the different places that they feature. I have had it for a long time, but got it out the other night to look it over again and so glad I did.
