we made it to toledo .. visited with the children and the grandes .. they are all sleeping now .. and i am not far behind them. much fun and frolic planned for the next few days .. but when writing to mary jane above .. i thought of another 'writing experiment' that i did years ago too! (actually, i was VERY surprized when one of the teenagers mentioned that his TEACHER had them do a similar writing essay. The only thing i added was to tell them of the 'time-line'.

o.k. gurlfrenz .. get your paper and pencil out and consider doing this .. it is a wonderful 'goals and values clarification'. Hopefully you will discover goals that you have and have not yet reached .. and you will contemplate and choose what is really important to you (for the rest of your life on earth).

On the far left-side of the paper (and turn it so the paper is LONGER from side to side ... to give you more room) ... NOW .. write the YEAR you were born on the left-side.

Think about your current state of HEALTH .. and your 'health habits' .. in the way you have lived and now live your life. Think about the ages of your parents and grandparents .. as they are now .. or how old they were when they passed away.

Put it all together and come up with an 'approximate' DEATH date for YOU! (i know . it may sound bizarre .. but it really is a very insightful process!)

Put your 'guesstimated' death date on the far RIGHT side of the page! Now mark your 'graph' in ten year increments (or five if you wish).

FIND YOUR 'CURRENT' AGE ON THE GRAPH BETWEEN THE TWO DATES AND DRAW A FAT RED LINE THERE!

Oh.. and here's the important part! Make a list of your ACCOMPLISHMENTS .. goals met .. things you have wanted to do and have done PUT THIS LIST UNDER THE SIDE OF THE PAGE OF THE YEARS YOU HAVE ALREADY LIVED ..

NOW list those "goals" NOT YET REALIZED. Put ANYTHING on this list that is IMPORTANT to YOU! Write this list under the side of YEARS REMAINING of your life!!!!

WHEW! take a moment to ponder ..how many years you have lived .. compared to those that are 'conceivably' left!

NOW .. PRIORITIZE those goals yet to be accomplished .. according to the years in which you would like to check them off your list!

It is also important to take into consideration your physical health when prioritizing your list.

you MAY have to just come to terms with the fact that 'some dreams' may not be realized in the time left.

SUCH AS .. if you have always wanted to CLIMB MT. EVEREST .. and are 75 years old and have severe arthritis in your knees .. you might have to 'hope' we do, indeed, get to 'go around again' ... and do it in the NEXT LIFETIME .. but 'worryeth not' .. there are lots of great things you can STILL do .. just concentrate on THOSE things!

you might even 'add' things to the list that you never really thought about before!

BE SPECIFIC about your goals.

One of mine is to visit ISRAEL with my honey hunk (who is jewish) and has always wanted to visit Israel.

The 'biggest' GOAL on my list is to live long enough to see all my grandchildren grown with children of their own .. my way to accomplish this .. is to keep myself as healthy as i can .. pay close attention to my diabetes .. and not do foolish things (like speeding while driving my car!)

Another goal is to keep 'journaling' .. so that my children's children can know who their 'grammie' was.

I would love to write a book (workin' on this one) .. doesn't even have to be one that 'sells' (but that would be fun too!) i want to write a 'children's book for our grandchildren! i have a wonderful story for my oldest grand-daughter .. now i MUST make time to write one for our oldest grandson, our youngest grandson and grand-daughter .. and now .. our GREAT-grandson!

I also want to do more 'world travelling' with Honey Hunk! I want more ADVENTURES like we had in AFRICA this year!

I want to gather often with friends .. I want to continue becoming involved in my 'community'. (i'm doing both of these .. but never want to stop!)

I want to draw/paint! I have lots of 'stuff' to do this with .. jus' have to make the commitment to sit down and 'JUS' DO IT!!!

I want to continue making dollies and finding mommas for them in homes all over the country!! I feel that a little part of 'me' lives in many places and hearts when i do!

HOW about all ya'll? What are your hopes, dreams and GOALS for the rest of your life?

MJ .. dearheart! thanks for the sweet, kind words! I honestly and truly do enjoy just about every moment of life! Our hours and days tick by at a constant beat .. and we can never physically re-visit our yesterdays. Life is way too short not to be happy most of the time .. AND .. if we don't get to 'pass this way again' .. we truly should enjoy our time on this earth .. and i swear .. i do believe it is all in 'attitude'.

There are positive and negative ... happy and unhappy ways to view all the events in our lifetime. And, oh my yes, i do believe that true sadness comes our way from time to time .. but .. we jus' can't let it linger and become a part of who we are.

I once read of an experiment where we 'WRITE OUR OWN OBITUARY' .. what would we want those who have been in our lives to remember about us? Do we live our lives in such a manner that those attributes would be written? How have we impacted on the lives of others?

Gosh .. gurlfrenz .. try that little experiment .. then ponder whether or not the things we desire to become a part of 'our memory' would come to pass. And if we come up 'short' .. what can we do NOW to become who we truly want to be?

Loving, Kind and FUN were three important words i came up with for how I want to be remembered.

Thanks again dear friend .. from your sweet words .. i think maybe i am on the right path. xo, frannie
