Saturday, I'm attacking the back rooms to clean them out, but on Sunday, we're going down to our favorite little hang out, the General Store in Rabbit Hash, Kentucky to listen to one of our favorite travelling musicians, Otis Gibbs (http://www.otisgibbs.com/)...we call him "the Truck Drivin' Woody Guthrie". He's a great folk singer, and great guy, to boot. He'll be playing his guitar, singing, around the pot bellied wood stove, and my culinary contribution to the potluck is homemade Black Bean Soup with Chipotle and Chorizo, and homemade Sweet Potato pie.

It's gonna be a cold one, here, so that oughta warm us up!

What's on the agenda for you girls????

Well, we had our annual Homemakers Christmas Village on Saturday. I was wore out. Our booth cleared 481.00 so not to bad. On Sunday, I didnt get much done at all. Just the normal, church, out to eat, take a nap and back to church.

I have some serious cleaning to do this week after work. The house is a wreck. I am not sure how just the 2 of us and 2 dogs can make such a mess.

My daughter will be in on Friday so we will be able to spend some Mommy-daughter time:).

Today, during my lunch hr. I visited my favorite "junk" store and even found a few treasures! I have started a new diet. Instead of eating lunch I am going to snack on fruit or something like that and use my lunch hr to visit my favorite shops. May not loose weight but it will be fun!

Counting my Blessings,
Joy

Everyone's weekend sounds just lovely! And, Janice, I'm really proud of your restraint--you should award yourself, handsomely--go out and buy something!!! . Alee, sometimes you CAN just do nothing--it's alright. My Grandma Dodie wouldn't recommend it ("idle hands...you know'), but that was 1918!!! A girl needs some down time every now and again. Especially after you worked your Saturday!

Our Sunday turned out even better than I'd hoped. Rabbit Hash was brimming with friends, food, dogs, music, and a warm stove. My pie was gone in seconds--didn't even get a piece, but from all reports, it was yummy, so I'm happy. Otis was wonderful and it's always a blessing (and a curse) to end the weekend on such a high note.

Oh my Sunday was just lovely! I spent the whole afternoon playing with Nora and relaxing. I should have napped, but that is okay. I was virtuous and washed the dishes. Just so I could say I got something done! LOL

Jonni, I didn't really care for MJ's recipe with the corn flour. I ended up using another recipe with just organic wheat flour. That recipe was a hit. No more irradiated tortillas from the store!

I stood outside in the cold all day on Saturday at yet another auction. And I DIDN"T even bid on the nifty old stove they sold. It was a Kalamazoo and looked like the one grandma Walton used and it sold for less than $200.00. I should get a medal for using such restraint! LOL! I bought other stuff, though....Today(Sun.), I'm doing laundry at a 'remote location' - my husband's work - because my super duper 'it's got a brain' washing machine stopped washing. Oh, well.

I actually don't mind chasing down horses....these guys bribe pretty easy. It was the thunder and downpour while trying to crimp wire that was yucky. Rain has let up, for the moment and I'm going to drag Drew away from his game and off to walk the dogs in a bit. I've got a small bison roast, which I'm going to set to braise in good things and then it will be red taters and saute mushrooms in balsamic vinegar and I need to go pick up some fresh vegies :P if my hands put up with it, I'll come home and work on projects. It'll be a good day

You have fun at Rabbit Hash Jonni

Made my soup in the crock pot yesterday (had a little sample for dinner-YUM), and the pie is in the oven and will cool nicely to go to Rabbit Hash by 2:00. Yay!

Hope everyone has had a good weekend--including Annika! Sorry about the beginning of it, but today should be better!

Well, we are still sitting here being slothful...DBF has a sinus headache and doesn't want to do anyhting..I'm picking at house work and trying to get myself together to start long over due projects. Gonna go poke around a thrift store while hunny looks at some computer stuff. It's been drizzly and wet here and even the dogs don't want to go out, so it's a good day to sit by the fire and spin =)

Happy weekend girls!

Your Sunday sounds great, Jonni! What a town...Rabbit Hash!

This weekend is entirely devoted to sewing projects. I have a couple small ones to finish up...then some bigger Christmas gifts!

Annika, I hope you do check out Otis. He's just wonderful--sings about the workin' man. He puts me in mind of Willie Nelson, too, but with a Waylon Jennings voice :)

Whatever you do, have a wonderful weekend, gals!!!

It must be just the weekend for carpet ripping. I'm tackling the bedroom carpet and putting down pergo. It is practical and easy to clean. I'm a bit worried about the chemicals in it, but we've done the rest of the big rooms and it looks so nice. General cleaning and yard pickup for the winter. Sunday I hope to take all three of my boisterous dogs out to a park and let them run some stink off :P

Alee, sleeping and playing with Nora sounds lovely. I wish you great joy with your little one =)
Jonni, I am going to go check out Gibbs, I love that kind of music
Lisa, isn't it gross how much dirt is under the carpet???? I think Idaho is the dust capital of the world LOL! Have fun with your new floor.

Well, the carpet is OUT! Yay! But it was a much bigger job than I expected and never got around to doing ANYTHING else. Tons of staples and nails in the floor and what a pile of dirt under it all! I'm glad it's finally gone. I'm hoping the dust doesn't accumulate as fast on everything now.

Jonni, I'm going to try to get to those tortillas tomorrow, now. I find it difficult to get things done when everybody's home, though. I end up getting pulled in multiple directions and don't seem to accomplish all that I set out to...But, I will let you know how they turn out when I make them.

I am sewing a Santa suit for my hubbie. He will be playing the jolly ole soul at the Church Christmas Party. If I get that done, I have three pairs of PJ's, a robe, 3 sets of fleece hats and scarves, 2 fleece gators, and an apron to sew before Christmas. Think I'll get it all done. *lol*

Well, the job I had when I was pregnant called me up in a panic. They needed someone to work a shift on Saturday so I figred I wouldn't mind helping out. So I am working on Saturday, and Sunday I am planning on doing nothing more than playing with Nora and sleeping. Not very exciting maybe- but I am excited about it! :D lol

That sounds fun, Lisamarie. I LOVE ripping out carpet! Doing next spring, in fact, in our living room, and painting the hardwood floor with a checkerboard pattern.
Let me know how the tortillas turn out--I was going to try them next week for burritos.

I now have Fridays off and I am ripping the carpet out of the living room today. It's a disgusting mauve, it's been here since before we moved in over 5 years ago and with 3 dogs, firewood, general daily wear and tear...well, it's gross! The original hardwood floor is under there and sometime over the winter, I hope to sand and seal it.

Then, I'm baking for the afternoon. I'm going to try MJ's tortilla recipe with her budget mix. And get some bread dough made up for the freezer. I've gone through a lot of bread lately with this pup of my daughter's eating entire loaves of it when nobody's looking!
