Posted - Nov 01 2007 : 07:59:16 AMi find them in antiques shoppes. i LOVE the ones with the 'split bottoms'!! i have quite a collection of those and of vintage petticoats. (just bought another one yesterday to wear under that same green tunic dress (lordy! wish i could find a dozen of those in different colors!) .. gonna' wear a black bodysuit under it .. with a darling little short black jacket over the dress. for 'jewels' . i'll wear an adorable 'hooked' black-dolly face' neck purse (that a friend made for me) .. black tights and my new black MUDD boots .. i also LOVE MUDD boots!!!!
and my splurge .. a $26. pair of off-white leg warmers (had to have SUMPTHIN' to go with the vintage petticoat! got the legwarmers (cutest i own!!! at HOLLISTERS .. one of my FAV shoppes! those clothes are best worn by 12 pound teenagers though .. oh! who are VERY wealthy! GREAT STORE ambiance!!! best i've seen! ha! i guess those leg-warmers help pay for all that ambiance!
by the way .. many years ago when we lived in the mountains of colorado .. i bought my first pair of 'split-bottom' victorian pantaloons .. and the shop-owner showed me how you could topsy-turvey them .. putting your ARMS in the PANT legs .. and tying it around your waist .. makes an ADORABLE jacket! i used to wear a little vintage camisole under the 'pantaloon jacket' and a long victorian petticoat for a SKIRT .. with mountain BOOTS .. of course!
hank used to tell me i was either VERY chic .. or they would get the 'butterfly' net after me!!!
OH HA! and i have FOR YEARS .. worn legwarmers with barefeet in sandals with my toes peeking out .. and last night i saw some teenagers doing the very same thing!!!!
(in the winter .. i also wear sandals and legwarmers .. but with co-ordinating SOCKS!
