What an incredible book .. compiled and written by
Green County resident, Lanny Tucker
A collection of stories, well known and otherwise;
a gallery of photographs, old and new;
and interviews!
IF you live in Kentucky .. and especially Green County .. and even if you do not .. but love history and the 'stories' of everyday people .. some who became 'famous' in time .. some .. who left quieter footsteps .. but all fascinating .. this is a MUST HAVE book!
You can purchase it from the Green County Historical Society
(if you do not know how to get in contact with them .. e-mail me and
i will be happy to connect you!)
They are available at the Olde Courthouse in Green County too!

a six-mule team hauling what appears to be a white oak log, in approximately 1915. The building was the long-time Woodson Lewis Store,
now the Glovers' Station Antique Mall.
_____________

Our very own GREENSBURG SQUARE looking south, prior to 1900. The Howell & Allen Dry Goods later became the Woodson Lewis Store. This building was destroyed by fire on April 20, 1900, and replaced by the present structure. (see above photo).

This ancient log cabin stands on the Wright Road.
Below, the Mongomery Mill, at the Narrows of Pittman Creek as it stood in 1975.

Time truly marches only forward .. but this fabulous book gives us glimpse backward
to earlier days and our ancestors.

Lanny has included so many areas of interest .. a few are: The Long Hunters, Stations & The Trace, Our County, the River and the General .. The Town and the Boom, Communiteis & Crossroads. History Among Us. Two very notable women in history who lived in Green County: Jane Todd Crawford and Mary Owens ... The Story of Slavery .. When Green Became Blue & Gray .. A Book, a Song & Ten Thousand People .. Night Riders. You will find heart-thumping photos as you look into the faces of the people and down the roads where they lived their lives!

Thank you Lanny and our Green County Historical Society
for making this book available to us today!

True Friends, Frannie
