A couple of weeks ago I got a ticket at a weigh station cuz, unbeknownst to me, my CDL had been suspended due to a mix up with my SS number (which was already fixed but the DMV 'never' got the memo). 15 minutes later I got a call from the State of Oregon DMV that I was back legal. Anywho, so away we go on the road. I didn't think much about it cuz the weighmaster said the judge dismisses 9 out of 10 tickets anyway.

Ok, fast forward to last Thursday or so when I called the court to find out what the fine was and had a 'discussion' with the court clerk clownette who mentioned jail time! I've never even seen the inside of a real jail!! She said she's talk to the DA (!!) and see what he wanted to do.

Fast forward again. I wasn't getting anywhere with above mentioned clownette yesterday so I asked for the DA's number and name. She didn't want to give it to me but finally did. I called direct and talked to the DA's personal secretary.

So today the lady told me just to pay $66 in court costs and it will be dismissed upon their receiving payment. Fine with me. Also the first lady was on a bit of power trip and the secretary had to straighten her out...

Ok, now the good part...my hubby. He took me out to eat at a nice restaurant in town and while we're sitting there...in front of God and everybody...he announces (exact words here) "Well, hon, at least you're not going to jail".

On a scale of 1 to 10, I was embarrassed at a 15. Wanted to slink to the floor!! He thought it was a funny joke...

Guess I'll keep him tho... Altho, it might be a little sticky for the next day or so...

And you didn't even do anything wrong...That's what makes the whole thing worth joking about. You can ask him if he thought being married to a convict would be this much fun?

That was funny Winona! well, I guess it's better than having him say that in church!! Nance is right, men are just men - I have one who tries to embarrass me in public sometimes, but now I'm used to it so he has to be more creative! LOL

Winona, men are just......men, sometimes! Personally I would rather you wring the neck of the clownette; and by the way, I LOVE that you called her a clownette! Nance

Oh Winona! Please forgive me for having a bit of chuckle! I know how it is! The guys certainly don't understand how a funny-to-them thought/comment affect us. I am so sorry that you are having to pay a fine for something that was never wrong in the first place...that seems kind of rotten!

But I am glad you aren't going to jail! *hugs*
