Nora, Doug and I are all sick with a horrible head cold. Ugh. I think I would rather go through child birth that have sinus pain. I am staying dosed on cold medicine and am just hoping Nora doesn't have the sinus pain. She hasn't been overly cranky yet so hopefully all she has is the snotty nose.

Nora seems to be doing better today. She is playing like normal and not wanting to sleep (again- Normal lol) I have a bit more energy today- I got a few loads of dishes done and I cooked meat and added my marinara sauce to it, plus cooked raviolli so Doug has a yummy mostly home cooked lunch to eat today. Once he leaves I am going to put a roast in the crock pot so it will be ready right when he comes home. After all that I think I will rest

The sinus pain isn't so bad today, but I am going to keep taking medicine and maybe a zinc tablet or two. Hopefully we get over this soon!

The Elderberry really can help, as does the Zicam stuff sold at most drug stores (it's homeopathic). Also the ginger tea listed above works great and it tastes good - sometimes I will add one clove of garlic mashed up and bit more honey. This is something you could even give Nora in a weaker/smaller amount.

Hope you feel better soon!

Well, if it had to happen, the timing wasn't too bad. At least it didn't happen during your wedding. I hope you all feel better real soon! You know what is good....grate up some fresh ginger (or cut into small pieces), squeeze a half of lemon and put in a pot of water (about 2 cups) and bring to a boil. If you have a teapot, (I use a teapot with a strainer) I put in a bag or two or ginger tea, and pour the pot of water into the stainer of the teapot and let it steep for 5 minutes or more...however strong you want the tea. Then, I serve it sweetened with honey. Very good for a cold! Fresh ginger is very good for you.

Several of us have had colds/sinus infections here. Both grandsons have colds and it's not pretty. I have been looking, since I read one of your letters, for elderberry juice or capsules. I can't find any. Any ideas? I like being healthy, too! Susan

Last night Nora cried so much. This really isn't normal for her. She basically cried herself to sleep in our arms. I felt so bad for her! Poor baby. I am not sure if this is teething or the fact that she might have the sinus infection. Either way I feel bad! Today she seems pretty normal except for being a bit stuffy sounding. Hopefully this will pass before Monday- I don't want to have to go to the doctor.

Sorry you are not feeling well, Alee.
I know that sinus stuff all too well. Hoping you'll get over it quickly and that Nora won't get it.

Thanks for the info on the elderberry juice. Have to give that a try.

Feel better Alee - sometimes that happens after a big event. I think your body gears up and runs on adrenaline for a period of time before the event, then just lets down and all the bugs getcha.

lisamarie508 thank you for the tip on elderberry juice--we are going to try that around our house.

Alee, try to get some elderberry juice. Nora can have all she wants with no drug side-effects or concerns. If you give it to her before she gets your cold, she'll never come down with it. And it will get rid of yours and Doug's colds right away. Works for the flu, too. No kidding. Get better soon!
