When I took my stuff up to the Puyallup Fair for setup last week, I thought I had a pretty nice display, but not a lot of backstock. I did however have almost 50 jackets, 60 hats, and almost 15 quilts on display, so I thought I could relax for a couple of days. Today I went berry picking for one last time, came home and got my berries, sugar and lemon juice into the kettle to start boiling. I put my jars in the dishpan and decided to go see if I had gotten any messages while I was out. There was a message from the lady at the fair telling me that all my backstock was gone, the quilts were selling, and I needed to bring more stuff up by TOMORROW!!! I freaked - this is only the 4th day of a 17 day fair!!! I have to work there tomorrow and Wed., so no sewing then. And, of course, I had just started my jam making project, so I had to finish that up. I finished a blue quilt after dinner and started on a pink one - it is 12:30 am now and I"ve finished the top of the pink one and I'm laying it out on the back and batting. I'm hoping to finish that and maybe make a couple of jackets before I have to leave in the morning. Wish me luck!!! Mixed blessing I guess - I wanted things to sell, just not so fast!

Oh, and I forgot to mention, I sewed a tarp for my sons' pack horse last weekend and it messed up my good sewing machine - the one I use to sew EVERYTHING!!! I had to take it to the shop on Saturday and it won't be out until Friday. I had to buy a cheap Singer (boy is it hard to get used to) just to use until I get my machine back. What a mess - when it rains...........

Your stuff is just beautiful-not surprized that it sold soo fast!

Wow! That is actually a nice problem to have. If your things are selling that quickly you must have nice items and have them priced well. Is there someone who could sew with you? If you could show them what to do and they could take off on their own with it, it might be worth paying to have the help. Just a thought. Wish I could ever make it to the Puyallup Fair . . . I have always heard great things about it.

Hugs & blessings,

Brenda

Sherri-

That is great! I am so happy for you! Keep up the crazy pace! It will be over before you know it and you will be that much closer to live in Montana full time!

Well, I survived the first day working there - it was Tuesday so it was slow. My feet are killing me though - standing all day on cement floors. I don't know how people do that day in and day out. Had a couple of farmgirls come by to say hello - Hello Debbie and Adrianne! It was so nice chatting with them.
Shirley - you are scaring me!! I plan to get back to work as soon as I get my machine back!! Tomorrow is my demo, so I'll get something done then.
If I had had more time, I would have stockpiled for this show, but as it turned out, I'm turning stuff over at a pretty good rate. My husbnd loves it, but I could do with a bit of a break LOL.

Hi Sherri
I did the Artists in Action from the beginning when it started, about 20 some years. last year I had knee surg and couldnt do it, what a relief, you have to have sooooooooooo much stuff made and back stock to. I was making stuff all year long. it really became work!
Sounds like your doing well, get busy girl because 3/4 the way thru you wnt have anything on your shelves left.
I really enjoyed doing it but now Im seeing theres another life out there. ROFL
Im quilting, and doing some things I have been wanting to do for years.
No time for berry picking,or relaxing until day 18 after the fair ends.
Good Luck
Shirley

Thanks all for the encouragement! Heather, I may just take you up on that if my machine doesn't get out of the shop on Friday as promised!!! As it is, I will spend Thursday cutting to be ready for Friday, then back to the fair again for the whole weekend. Thanks again.

Wow!! Congratulations! That is wonderful that your crafts are selling so well. I sure do admire you, I don't think I could ever get that much sewing accomplished that fast! I know I couldn't.

from here it sounds wonderful! and i am not surprised cause as sweet as your jackets look in photos, in person they are too wonderful! my little ones adore theirs. good luck and have fun, and if all else fails, sherri, make up a order sheet and let people order jackets etc. from you with a 2 week, 1 month delivery date or something. at any rate, these are handmade items, not mass produced from china, so how much can one woman do?
i for one am very proud happy and not surprised at your success. you go girl!

love

WOW, Sherri! What a delightfully terrible predicament to find yourself in?! See how beautiful your things are? They are like butterflies; they don't stay for long. Good luck restocking the display! Happy hugs for you, Nance

Sherri, Let me know if you need to come over and use any machines. I have a serger, a viking mega quilter, a white multi stitch and a vintage '59 viking that sews like a dream. Just email me and I'll give you my phone number again. I'd love to have company!
