I don't know if I mentioned this at the time, but back in March my city neighborhood lost it's grocery store. Wegmans, our local "hometown grocery" chain, decided it was no longer profitable for them to operate in a smaller, older urban location. It was very upsetting, especially for those of us who grew up in the neighborhood and have been shopping at that store all our lives. I still can't find anything at the next closest store, and the produce section is terrible.

So...tonight on the news they announced that the building has been purchased and will reopen as a PriceRite at the end of the year. Seems to be a New England chain affiliated with ShopRite. Kind of the lowball, price chopping wing of the company. Do any of you live in a town with a ShopRite? What can we look forward to? I'm looking forward to being able to walk to the store again. Will the store be any good?

Laura, thanks! That sounds promising. Wegmans is a really good grocery store, so I think we're all a little spoiled here in Rochester. But ours was the smallest and oldest store in the region, so it was quite basic. I don't mind "no-frills" as long as the prices are good and the produce is fresh! I hope PriceRite will be buying from local farmers, Wegmans is pretty good about that.

we have a pricerite about 45 min from me. they are a lowball price chopping wing. I do go in there though for produce the prices even beat our super walmart sometimes.their bakery is usually good too last week I purchased a 12 pk of thomas' english muffins for $1.99 which is $1.00 less than super walmart when they are on sale.
I budget for our family of 4 so.. it is a pick & choose grocery store for me..
hope this helps!
it all depends what you are used to
