Well ladies and fellow MN farmgirls- I don't know about you but I just love the State Fair, and if you are in MN, you know that it is here! Another thing we here in MN are famous for is every food you can imagine - on a stick!

So for the first day- we packed up the kids and went to the fair. We fought the rain and drizzle and it was well worth it. We visited the horse barn and sheep barn, poked our nose into the chicken barn a bit too. Another fun place to check out is the DNR building with all the local woldlife in the state. Finally we spent some time participating in the KARE 11 Onlive TV show. What great fun to be a part of that program and if you looked closely you could see me with my Certified Farmgirl t-shirt I wore. I even handed out some "What's a farmgirl?" cards.

The food was fantastic, the display's educational and entertaining. But by far the best thing we experienced was the Birth Center and the brand new baby pigs! Got some great photos of these wee babes and I will share them with you on my blog later.

Well this was my first day at the fair but certainly not my last day this year. I left only because my feet refused to move any more!!!!!

Any farmgirls headed out there let me know- I'd love to see you at the fair!!!!!!!!!

"skwitch" yep that is exactly what they do, although I don't think I could have come up with that word.

We delivered a JD tractor to a MN friend we met in Ohio at the JD Expo and my "pay" for the delivery was an igloo cooler full of cheese curds! They were the best!

Cheese curds... the pre-fried variety. Don't cha love the way they "skwitch" between your teeth.

Holy Cow! We went to the Great Minnesota Get-Together twice this weekend and had a great time! Photos and stories on my blog...pop on over to take a look!

I think my favorite new treat of the Fair this year was the Cider Freeze at the Horticulture Building. A frozen tube of apple cider, just like the freezer pops only pure cider, for a mere seventy-five cents. I didn't think you could still find Fair food for less than a dollar!

the mini doughnuts are awesome and my 16 yr old son's all time favorite. My next item to try is the pork chop on a stick! And for dessert- banana with chocolate and nuts on a stick.

Beth, Oh how I miss those mini-donuts! I can't find them anywhere in my little forgotten corner of Washington. I keep telling my husband if we could make a killing if we bought a mini-donut maker and bring it to festivals around here.JoAnn

Being a former Minnesotan, I know how great it is. Also, being born and raised in Iowa I know that the Iowa state fair is one of the greatest as well - as you IA farmgirls will attest to.

So enjoy your time at the fair Beth - especially the food.
