Posted - Aug 23 2007 : 6:58:37 PM We finally got our new computer but I have a problem. The computer came with a widescreen monitor and everything on the internet (pictures etc.) Is short, wide and kind of grainy. Is it possible to set the internet so that it shows it "normal"? I tried playing with screen resolution and got the internet looking okay but then all the computer programs were finny looking. HELP!!!!

Posted - Aug 24 2007 : 09:45:52 AM Hi - If you can tell me the brand of monitor (and size) and what video card you're using I may be able to help with a specific answer for you.

Posted - Aug 24 2007 : 08:31:29 AM Ok, couple things to check.
do a windows update and make sure there are no new monitor drivers that you need to install. crazy as it may sound, updates could have happened while the system was sitting in a warehouse or even in transportation to fix this.
If there aren't any driver updates....then you need to set your resolution. What size screen do you have?
a 20" screen would need to be set at 1280 x 1024
Hope this helps. Lorna

Posted - Aug 24 2007 : 05:12:02 AM Yeah. And it messes up everything else. I have this stupid new Windows Vista and a widescreen monitor and it is all crazy. I only seem to have problems with the internet so I don't want to change all the settings just my internet browser settings.

Posted - Aug 23 2007 : 9:50:23 PM have you tried right-clicking on the desktop, selecting properties, then selecting the "settings" tab? There is a slider you can move back and forth to change the screen resolution.
