hey girls, we have been talking on another thread about Buggy Barn Quilt show.
Here is the deal, to all those who want to go.
A couple of farmgirls and I are meeting up at McDonalds on Highway #2, in Airway Heights at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 25th. If any of you would like to join us there, give a shout out. From there we are driving out to Reardan where the Buggy Barn is. The quilt show is Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
So looking forward to seeing y'all.

Okay, now I am tweaking out, I can't find my book and I just have to cut the houses down to size. Okay, it is the one with 6 different houses and the trees. Someday soon I hope to find the darn book.
We will be talking about that one for sure.
Hey did you find the thread on the get together this Thursday at Dennys, right off I-90 here in Geiger Fields. Let me know, we would love to have you.

Carol Sue,
Yes it's Rather Be's....owned by a good friend of mine. I work for fabric...no kidding. Who is your friend that comes for retreats? We have regular repeat customers for retreats because once you do one you just want to keep it up and the best way to get on the calendar is to immediately book for the next year. That's why it fills up so fast but like I said, we do get cancellations.

The village one? I don't recall that one. What book is it in? I've done Star Crazy, Crazy Among Friends(which is the one on the cover of the book of the same name), Winter Blooms and I'm working on the Kaleidascope one.

Marcia, thanks for posting the connection to gallopingpony. Oh my goodness does that ever give me ideas. How clever to make shrinky-dink ones, you can display them without running out of space! I just love the one with the folks sitting on the old car. I must learn more about this.

We make a difference.

Marcia, I am sitting here laughing. You are talking about Rather Be's, okay, I think I have the name wrong. But an acquantince of mine, her family goes there in Septmeber and has for a bit. Yes, we will have to talk about this one for sure. Yep, made buggy barn crazies too and love them.
Hey have you done the village one, for the life of me I can't remember if that is the name of it. Yep, check out the details for me, I would love it.

I work at a quilt shop just outside of Pomeroy on most Wednesdays from Sept-May. The downstairs is a retreat house. Quilt/craft retreats are lots of fun. If you all would like to consider a small retreat of our own I could check on available dates. Rates are very reasonable and it can be anything from fully catered to do your own food(cheapest way to go). We are heading into our busiest season so there isn't much available right now but we do get cancellations. It would be possible to have a retreat AND do a Buggy Barn crazy class here. I've made several of their patterns and have also taught classes. We don't organize retreats for groups. They do their own thing. If anybody is interested, I can give you more details. Just a few things to think about....lol.

No, I don't think I did, now wouldn't a quilt retreat be fun. I have way to many fun ideas running through this head of mine.

Did you get a chance to meet Virginia Cole from gallopingpony? I've been to 3 quilt retreats with her and sat across from her at two of them. She does incredible work! I always come home wanting to make miniatures. She's so talented and there seems to be no end to her creativity.

Michelle, it would have to be after market, which is in October I think, maybe all the way into November would be good, the cost is 55.00 per person and they serve us lunch. You can go to Buggybarnquilts.com. I think that is right and look up their quilts, they have all kinds of crazies, It is using fat quarters and a cutting technique that is super simple and easier to sew together. We can each do a different crazy or the same one. I love doing them, have done stars, crazy block, village one, shoot have done a couple more and can't remember what they were. Will give plenty of warning and time. I have to be able to afford and save the money for it.

Carol Sue, what is buggy barn crazy? Is that a variety of crazy quilting? I'd love to do some of that. Put me down as very interested, but know that it depends on what days/time we could do this. My schedule is about to go crazy busy. I don't want to hold everyone back. E-mail me with a likely schedule, and I can give you a more definite answer. :) That would be so much fun!

We make a difference.
Carol Sue Posted - Aug 28 2007 : 11:28:53 AM
Michelle we have been kicking around the idea of taking a quilting class out at the Buggy Barn, if we get 10 committed people we can have a class or our own doing buggy barn crazy. Let me know if you think that is something you would like to do. Aren't doing it really soon as they bb will be going to market and we have to set it up after that.

Nice to hear about your adventures gals. I did get pics posted on my blog...so check 'em out!
I am off to play Bunco tonight. Been playing with the same gals for over ten years. We all had kids in high school together and when the kids graduated, we missed each other's company. So we started playing Bunco once a month. Ya' know sittin' at those sporting events for years together ya' get to know each other pretty well. Ah...the days of working in the concession stand. It was a fun time in life though.

Sounds like so much fun. Sorry I missed the visiting and the quilts. I'm glad it sounds like they do this each year. I'd love to go next time. DH has upgraded from bedrest to light duty, so he hit the door at the crack of dawn grinning ear to ear. Didn't think my company was so bad lol. Let me know when you get pictures up, would love to see what you saw!

I loved the quilt show. So inspiring! My favorite was the colonial looking Baltimore Album quilt that had the eagle and was tea dyed. It would take 100 years for me to make all those appliques, but it was gorgeous. It was fun getting to know our nutty Carol Sue and her sweet hubby and meeting Amanda. The funny thing was when we were meeting at McD's this cute girl walked in and sat alone. After a while it was obvious she too was waiting for someone. I finally got up the courage to go ask her if she was waiting for Carol Sue. So glad she was! I would have felt foolish asking, if she wasn't! So that was how I met Amanda. She is so sweet. She has been a bit overwhelmed with her "welcome" to Spokane of wild teenagers in their backyard in the middle of the night. I suppose when I told her that the area she lives in is referred to the "twilight zone" by all the EMS crew in Spokane, that didn't help either! My hubbie is a paramedic and they have names for most of the areas in Spokane. Anyway, it was a fun day and made me want to go home and create! I have 20+ projects half done so I think I better get cracking!

Hugs & blessings,

Brenda

Hey Pamela, I too loved the miniture quilt-collage by www.gallopingpony.com I would luv to try my hand at that.
You are ot kidding, I attempted 2x to go into the quilt store & both times it was elbow to elbow, I did finally manage to go in,,,then later that day I bee lined it to Joanns to get some holiday print fabric. I spent well over $50 in fabric alone, but now if we have a freak snow storm in August, I will have enough material to keep me busy!!! lol!
MJL, I sent you a picture of the cute westerny quilt w/the bandana ties. I will try to put some on my blog tonight, how ever, now my CPU is having "issues" so I am using my DH's computer. I must be the kiss of death to computers, My laptop died last month and now this one is having issues. egads!
Julia, I will email you in a few w/my address & ph#.
Sorry ladies I missed you all @ the B.B., I wore a red hat so you sould find me & go figues, there were 2 other ladies w/red hats on! oh well, great minds think alike!

Rats I missed you all!! I went very late in the day, which was nice since hardly anyone was there but the wind sure was blowing! I had my 2 girls with me and my son stayed home with Dad.. I was amazed..so much inspiration. I scored some nice things. I was particularly in love with the little strawberry pincushions..so darling..will be tying ribbon to those and adding them to gifts instead of bows...
Grace...I've lost your phone number and address and want to connect..Could I drop by something this week to deliver a little farmgirl cheer and bounty from the farm? Give me a call and let me know when a good time for you would be...
Many smiles,
Julia Hayes
