The kids and I scrambled to get the fair entries all ready..and got the stuff all over to the fair grounds at 5pm...
Summer entered a tied quilt, a pastel sketch of a flower and butterfly, and a beginning recipe collection.
Travis entered a pencil sketch, and banana peppers.
Erin entered banana peppers (she didn't finish her other projects in time..story of her life..haha)
Dalton entered his rock and mineral collection and zuchinni.
I entered a jar of chicken I canned, a crocheted sage green doily and anahiem peppers.
Weds after school we will rush over to see how the entries did... such a big day for the kids each year. Next year we hope to have some animal projects. For 4H so far we have mostly worked on cooking and a general vet science book, and DAlton on geology and Travis on Art. There are so many different things you can do..there were kids there with 20 entries!!! So now the kids are excited for next year too. This was their first year in 4H..and we didn't join early in the year. Usually they just enter in the jr. catagory of regular entries..still fun, but they love the 4H area!!
I will post pictures when we pick up the stuff and ribbons(hopefully) next Monday!!
Our fair starts (the fun part anyhow) on Weds. I live for the animal barn and the kids love the rides..husband really really likes those mini donuts..haha

Congrats Jenny and kids!

I'm hoping we can at least attend the Iron County fair, even though we're not ready to enter anything yet.

Goodness...I always love county fair time. I now help our homemakers with entering entries and such as well as entering my own stuff. Usually I have a little bit here and there. Right now we are in the middle of our state fair in Kentucky - home of the Ugliest Lamp Contest - haha. Good luck with your entries at your county fairs.

How fun! I just saw the flyer for our fair and which days to enter things on. It made me wish I had been a bit more industrious on getting some projects done. Well- I will just have to shoot for next year I suppose!

I am so glad that so many people still enter fairs! Hearing about kids having 20 projects to enter just makes my heart glad!

Good Luck Aunt Jenny and your family too!

Fairs are such fun . . . for kids and adults alike! We finished all our entry forms last week, but the first fair isn't until Sept 6 and the second the third week of Sept. We do both the Spokane Interstate Fair and the Rockford Fair. Our kids do 4-H and enter pigs. Right now our focus is on putting weight on the pigs, so we are going broke on "pig grower" which is a high protien food purina makes to help them grow. It turns every pound of food into three pounds of weight. Imagine if we humans ate that! LOL!

I am hoping next year to let the kids do some drawings, veggies, etc. but for this year life just got in the way. I really love the Rockford Fair the most . . . it is just a small town fair and has such a Mayberry RFD feel to it. We will camp at both fairs and that ads to the fun for the boys. I think any parents that are able should involve their kids in these fairs. Such a wholesome fun thing and the memories will last a lifetime.

Hugs & blessings,

Brenda

Jenny - Good luck to all of you at the fair! The Ky state fair is going on now, too. Can you show us pics of the children's artwork sometime? I really love to look at the artwork at our fair. And the handwork. I've seen incredible quilts there. Take pics of all the ribbons! What fun! :D
