Hi Farmgirls-
I should start off by explaining that my mother, bless her heart, is not computer savvy, despite my rather constant encouragement for her to log online. I am sure she grows weary of my nagging. But nag I must as I am always sad that she is missing out on meeting all the wonderful ladies on this forum and sharing tidbits & treasures, thoughts & ideas, swapping treats & trinkets....so, that being said, I would like to see if there is anyone on the boards who might like to penpal via snail mail with her, which is Mom's preferred method of correspondence anyhow. I do have to agree with her, that letter writing is quickly becoming a lost art.
My mom is 63 years old and lives in the Florida panhandle. She has just one child, a 36 year old daughter (yes, that would be me):-) and 3 grandchildren (my kids) ranging in age from 1 to 12 years of age. This year will mark my parents 40th wedding anniversary. She is retired now, but was formerly an elementary school teacher. She substitute taught for many years for the flexibility of the work, so she could also be home to raise me. She loves gardening, particularly flowers and herbs and then loves to cook and craft with both. She is a wonderful seamstress and very creative. She has lots of wonderful ideas for dolls and clothes and all sorts of things...lots of storybook influenced, yesteryear creations full of charm. Her style is somewhat ecelectic, primitive, early American, shabby chic, folk, Mary Emmerling, Mary Randolph Carter...a blend of antiques, found objects, thrift shop/garage sale wares with some new mixed in to boot.
My mother has collected postcards since she was a small child and still loves to send and receive them to this day. She loves to make her own cards, stationary etc and loves to send & receive mail art and just mail in general. She loves to cook and share recipes. She is a fan of Victorian Papers, Tasha Tudor and Gooseberry Patch....just to name a few. Another favorite collectible of hers are antique linens: doilies, runners, dishtowels, hankies and so on.
Well, I guess that gives you a good idea of Mom. What I ask is that anyone who would like to penpal with my Mom simply PM me and I'll send you her address. If you would be so kind to initiate correspondence and write the first letter, that would be wonderful!! Mom is just going to be so tickled pick about this. It will be such a treat for her to make some new dear penfriends from across the country/around the world!! :-)

Thank you so much,
*pollyesther*

Dear Miss Lu,
Thank you for the very kind compliment and for signing up to penpal with my mother. You are too sweet! My mom has done so much for me, starting with bringing me into this world, I figure the least I can do is find or create a little fun for her here and there. I will reply to your email directly. I am sure Mom will be simply be beside herself when she opens her mailbox! What a treat!!
