Posted - Aug 19 2007 : 4:33:48 PM Thought I would ask for some help. I am putting together a homemade gift basket for my sister's bday gift, she is turning 60! LOL (she's the oldest of 7 and I'm the youngest, I can laugh!) anyway, I'm planning a gourmet basket of all my garden sauses, pickles, homemade breads, jams and the like, I want to express how my garden is to me what my sister has been to all of us. I want to thank her for nurturing the seeds, giving us water, and watching us grow. But I cant get the words right. Do any of you know of a garden poem that would fit? I also found an old photo of her holding me as a baby, thought I'd frame that as well. Sure would appreciate some help, I dont have much time to work on this, thanks in advance!

Posted - Aug 20 2007 : 11:29:15 AM Lisalu, what a neat idea for your sister's 60th birthday, and what an awesome poem, Jeannie!
For my oldest sister's 50th bday (a short 13 years ago) I did a "Fifty reasons why I love you, sister" poem...a rough take on the poem by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, whose opening lines I used to introduce the poem...anyway, it was a bit of a struggle to come up with the last few "reasons" but I think she liked it.

Posted - Aug 20 2007 : 06:19:12 AM My sister is a garden in my heart. She plants seeds that give my joy a start. She has watched me grow and wiped my tears, She has been there for me over all the years. In seasons of drought and times of green growth She has steadily given me love and hope, both. I wish for her a bountiful day, May the fruits of happiness come her way. May she feel the garden in her heart Has been tilled with a sisterly gift on my part.
LisaLu , Happy 60th Birthday to your sis! My sister is celebrating her 65th and I am mailing her gift today! :)
