Guess what I bought yesterday?!?!? A beautiful old-fashioned rice huller from china!!!!! I am so excited! I am always drawn to "everyday" items used by past generations or other cultures. Well yesterday I went to this store that deals mostly in Chinese antiques and I immediately saw it sitting all by itself in the back conner. I went straight for it and the lady working there was extremly happy to tell me all about it and said no one had shown interest and so she had been thinking of trying to find a museum or something who would take it. I called DH right away and of course he said if I wanted it to get it ...and I did on the spot!! When the owner came in she was able to translate the konji on the side and so now I know what province it came from and can do more research on the area and the item itself. I am just beside myself because I have never seen anything like it before and to have a piece of Chinese farm history in my own home and one day farm is thrilling for me!!!
Anyway... I just had to share!! They will deliver it tomarrow!

From the same store I also got an old weathered bench that is around 150 years old that would have sat on some country farm in China long long ago. The scroll work on it is very simple but the owner informed me that they are sybols of clouds so at last I am sitting on cloud nine... for real this time !!!

Hugz!

That's wonderful, Talitha. Congratulations on your great finds. Can you post photos? I would love to see both your beautiful antiques.
