Help, I have my next door neighbor, who we call Grandma Emma, who had knee surgery. She had an emergency run last night and has to be on
major bed rest. She is hungarian and as she says, my english not so good. She is a crack up. This is what she does Hungarian embrodiery, like crewel with floral patterns. I wish I had a camera to show you but I need to find some. She has used up all of her pieces to work on, she gets them preprinted. I am headed out to Joanns and Michaels, called so many shops this morning, no luck, does any one have a source for crewel work that I could check out.
Thank you so much, just want to make her life a little easier.

Haven't heard from the lady yet but this is what I did for a project for her right now. She gave my dd a pillow and me what I would call a dresser scarf. From those I made a pattern up and hand traced it on the pillowcase. It took me 3 hours and my fingers I have to say are a little sore. She was very excited. Found out from her daugher she is only suppose to be getting up for bathroom runs and to eat. That is it. I will be checking on her tomorrow, her daughter was delighted that I did it for her.
If you go to www.ask.com and type in Hungarian embordiery it will show you what it looks like. It is under Matyo embrodiery.
Alee, thank you very very very much.
You gals are the very very best.

Aw, Carol Sue - that is so sweet of you. Wish I had a clue what you are talking about with that kind of embroidery - I'd send you some for her. I'm glad you found someone who can help.

Hungarian embrodieery is kinda like crewel or a satin stitch that they build up by doing it over and over again. I went Ben Frankline, felt an urge(God thing) and ended up meeting a gal there whose friend does Hungarian embrodiery. She is going to get a hold of her for me and hopefully we can meet up and she will have some patterns. I sure don't mind doing it and will end up learning how to do this.
Gotta go trace those......
Thanks Gals

Have you tried places like Walmart? I remember years ago they sold all kinds of doilies, table runners/cloths, pillow cases, etc. all pre-stamped.
I will keep my eye open next time I head to town.
Please send Grandma Emma my best wishes for a speedy recovery!
