We have a new arrival at "Ludwig Hills"! The first calf for the season was born yesterday. Traditionaly I get to name the first born, but it is so fun I thought I might let you girls have a go. I will let this post run for a week, and at the end I will pick the best name.

Here she is.O.K. so she is not the prettiest calf we have ever had, but she has some nice markings.

Wow, my husband and I were just tickled to find out you chose Avval! Especially since there were so many other great suggestions!
We hope your Avval enjoys her next few months grazing in the beautiful pastures there at "Ludwig Hills". Have fun naming the rest of the new arrivals!

Oh girls, thanks so much for your input into naming the first little calf for the season. So after much deliberation, two cups of tea, and several chocolate biscuits. I have decided on the name Avval. I love this name for it's orignality and femininity. Congratulations to Dawn for the winning suggestion. We have since had four more calves come to join us at "Ludwig Hills", all girls! I will use some of the other names for them. I will keep you all posted on how little Avval is going over the next few months.
Love,
Shirley

Hi Shirley,
I like the name Maybelle - not sure why, just came to me when I looked at her picture.
Best wishes,
Jayne

Hmm, that mark on the forehead and down the leg... like lightning and a strike...

Potter?
H. Potter?
Hairy Potter?

I think she's a cutie anyway, whatever name she ends up with.

We make a difference.

If you want to try a name in a different language, how about Avval? It means "first" in Persian. (My husband is Persian). You pronounce it using the short a vowel sounds. Av like in avenue and val like in Valerie. Have fun in choosing the name!

It will be fun to see what you name her! I can't get over how adorable she is! I want to adopt her! LOL Too bad flying a calf all the way around the world would cost too much! LOL

Oh boy! this is going to be a hard choice. So many fantastic and fitting names. I like them all! Maybe I can give her a combination of a few and she can have a real long name like a royal.

With the little spot of white on her forehead, and the swirls of white on her feet and legs, I vote for:

Star Dancer,
or
Milky Way,
or
Comet.
