Carol Sue and Lavendar Fields Dreamer drove all the way down from Spokane to go berry picking with me today. We met at the old train depot in Pullman, WA then we drove to my Super Duper Berry patch. We all got bucket loads of berries! Yup! Bucketloads!

And to make a wonderful day even better! They brought be jars and goodies from Huckleberrywine!

Carol Sue and Teresa are so sweet and fun! We had so much fun! We chatted and laughed.

It was still pretty hot out, but we managed. And afterwards we were all hungry and thirsty so we went to Dairy Queen for lunch and Ice Cream!

I love meeting farmgirls and the berries are just a wonderful extra! :)

Thanks for coming down, ladies! I look forward to apple season so we can get together again!

We had a great time. Spring Creek is the name of the place with the darling 1930's log cabins to rent. Nicest folks too. That was the treasure of the trip.

I just picked around the creek while the other folks were fishing, and found a few pin-head sized ones. Some clear purple, and the others would need to be cut to show very well. Just interesting. I guess there are big ones there, but I was just happy to be in the water w. DD and visit.

We make a difference.

Oh Darn! I bet we would have seen each other too! How did you do? Get any good garnets?

Alee, how funny is life? I just got back from staying in some cute little cabins near St. Maries, and panning for garnets! Currant grubs --ew. Kinda spoils the fun. It was good to splash around in the river and look at all the scenery. What a gorgeous place.

We make a difference.

Oh and Michelle! We found some currants that were infested with that grub out on the mountain! Icky!! So gross!

What fun! Almost makes me want to go berry picking (almost...but then I recall the days of my youth spent in those fields and I change my mind and buy them at a store instead )

Well- I ended up not going berrying yesterday. Doug, his dad, Nora and I all went to Silverwood. His dad payed for us (thankfully! It is expensive to get in!) I watched while they rode the scary rollercoster rides and walked around with them. Then we went to the water park side. Nora splashed a little in the kiddie swimming pool but the water was a bit too cold even to just splash her feet in. But she had fun I think. Then Doug's dad watched Nora while Doug and I swam in the wave pool and went on the water slides. And then we were all pretty beat from the sun so we decided it was time to go home.

I am going to end up giving Doug's dad most of my blackberries from picking with Carol Sue and Teresa since I can go back and get more any time. It looks like today we are going Garnet hunting up by St. Maries and then early tomorrow Doug's Dad is heading back to Wyoming. It's always fun to have people come up because then you sometimes get to do things you wouldn't normally do. :)

Michelle-

There were even MORE berries than when we went! I am planning on taking my fiance and his dad either today or tomorrow. *Yes I am addicted to berries...* I am going to take my big hedge clippers and really work on trimming some of those branches back. I would love to go and trim walkways through so that we could get the big berries in the center of the bush- but I know they would probably just grow over in a day or so! I read that wild blackberries can grow up to 2 feet a day!!
