Posted - Jul 09 2007 : 10:23:39 PM I was really absent minded today and left the lights on in my car. Yup. I ran the battery down. I hate it when I do that- but that's why I never leave home without a good pair of jumper cables!
Well I was waiting around for my neighbor who has a car to get home. Usually it's not hard to find a neighbor to jump the car- but we have a lot of empty apartments around us right now.
Well anyway- Doug really wanted to go to a friend's going away party. So I HAD to get the car jumped like _right now_. And yet- my neighbor was still not home.
So I jogged down the block to another friend's house and thankfully he was home and buzzed right up and we got the car started in about 2 seconds! Thank Goodness for Good Neighbors! This is the same guy who single handedly carried really heavy furniture into my apartment when I was pregnant and has loaned me gardening equipment. :) I need to bake him some cookies! LOL

Posted - Jul 10 2007 : 08:36:39 AM MaryAnn- One thing I have thought of buying in the past is a self-jumper. It is a little box basically with an extra batter that jumps your car for you. There is also a battery charger that you can hook up to the car's battery and any outlet and it will charge the car for you. If I ever live out in the country- I will buy both! LOL I will probably carry the self-jumper in the car with me too- or at least a spare battery. Maybe I just need one of those really annoying "You left your lights on Silly" dinging cars! LOL Or I need a smart car that turns them off for me!

Posted - Jul 10 2007 : 03:45:57 AM I use to do that (leave the lights on) all the time when the kids were little ...I just had so much else on my mind! Glad you were not stranded. I too have great neighbors that's one of the things that makes me think maybe I shouldn't move out of town...but then no one has made an offer yet so I may NOT be.
