Hi Ladies!

I just got a "Spoof" email that looked like it came from ebay. It was very convincing with the email "Secure@ebay.com" as the "From" address and the ebay logo in the email. I didn't believe it was from Ebay though, since they sent it to an email that is not associated with my ebay account. I forwarded the email to the Ebay security team (From the real Ebay site) and sure enough- they said it was a Spoof email. I could have been a victim of a Phishing scam.

So please be careful if you get an email supposedly from Ebay. Always check you ebay account from a new window to see if you have messages in your "My Message" section. Any email sent to you will also be sent there.

Just be aware - it isn't just eBay and/or PayPal. It's getting to be *any* entity that deals with money.

I got one of these two weeks ago from Mid-America Bank. I immediately forwarded to them advising that I knew it was spoof - I don't bank there now and never have! ~ Kaylyn

Thanks for spreading the word Alee - this happened to me also, before I knew what was going on. I had to end up closing my paypal account.

...and in the spoof, they don't use a capitol 'E" in ebay, which is a good clue too that its a fake.

Alee, Thanks for the warning, especially for those who have never heard about it. I have gotten those eBay Spoofs MANY times!!! I report it each time. It is so sad that there are bad people out there!

Hugs,

Phishing is where people try to "fish" for your personal information. If I had thought it was real, I would have "verified" my account information on a fake site- there by giving them my email address and password and giving them access to my account which is linked with my paypal account. They could have logged on, changed my account info so I wouldn't have been able to log on, and then bought a lot of things using my pay pal account for payment. Scary!

Scary! ebay is just scary period!!! I have such an additive personality -I was addicted to it for a few weeks! Spent WAY too much money on stuff I don't need-it was like letting a kid loose in a candy store.I closed my account and pay pal account and don't go near it!!! Thanks for the tip! I'm sure some of my info is out there in cyberspace! Oh! What's phishing again? What would have happened if you had thought it was real?? I'm cyber challenged-scary too!!!

Yup, Mine said I had be indefinetly suspended- and yet when I went to Ebay.com my account was fine. The Spoof team said it was a fake. Pretty Scary though! I looked pretty real!

I got one too. If you forward it (without changing it-just hit the forward button) to spoof@ebay.com they will investigate it and then can tell you if it was legit or not.
Mine said I owed money on something. Funny, since I can't remember my password! That's what made me suspicious in the first place I haven't bid on anything or put anything up for sale in months and months.
Be Careful!
