Posted - Jun 30 2007 : 11:48:10 PM Okay, dd and grand dd picked strawberries yesterday. We were going to do the jam last night but life didn't go that way. So today I walk up to dd and said bring everything down. The kitchen is clean and away we went. Her dd's came down with their aprons on and helped take the tops off the strawberries and mash them. So I figured as long as we were making jam, I should do the frozen berries I have had in the freezer that I was going to do late last fall. So away we went. DD had forgotten that she had raspberries in our freezer. Oh my oh my.....we started at 1 this afternoon and I was finally done with everything including cleanup at 11pm, when I finally sat down and checked out the farm of course. So I now have some raspberry, blackberry, marionberry and huckleberry jam. All 36 12 oz jars of them. Boy did the house smell great. And the best part, using my grandma's wooden spoon that she used making her jam. She is gone now but it is cool to get to use her stained wooden jam spoon. So glad my mom passed it to me. It made my day. Now, just putting my feet up, those dogs are tired!

Posted - Jul 02 2007 : 1:05:53 PM Oh I am being selfish, but I want a nice hot sunny day today! I washed my feather bed and it is drip drying on my front porch right now. I need a good 100 + degree day so it can dry- and what is it here in Moscow?? Cloudy!! That is NOT what I wanted for today! LOL... the best intentions...but I might end up having to wash it AGAIN if it doesn't try fast enough!

Posted - Jul 01 2007 : 09:17:29 AM They're like blackberries, but longer, so you get more berry in a bite. Yum. Carol Sue, I'm so glad you enjoyed jam making with the family. What a great memory you made!

Posted - Jun 30 2007 : 11:58:47 PM How Awesome, not just making the jam, but making it with your "girls" and using your grammy's wooden spoon. What a blessing to be able to carry on her tradition. Relaxe, and savor the moment. Them enjoy some of that jam on toast tomorrow morning. "The fruits of your labor" nite nite,
