movie theatre?
we have a drive-in seven miles from cabin creek farm. our closest 'town' of Greensburg does not have a movie theatre .. they did years ago .. and i have heard it was very popular in the 1950's .. it's now a Chinese Restaurant .. no movie theatre ever opened up there again.
next closest: 20 miles .. Campbellsburg, KY
then: 25 miles .. Elizabethtown, KY
where do YOU go to the movies?
oh .. when we want to see more 'sophisticated' movies .. (NO! not DIRTY ones .. foreign films .. those that don't make it to the 'mass media' thatres .. we travel 65 miles to Louisville.

No movie theatre in our town, but we do have 2 traffic lights!! We can drive to Coeur d'Alene or Post Falls to see a show. My daughter and I were talking the other night and we really would love to have a drive-in theatre. I think they'd do well - nostalgia and all.

Never was one here as far as I know. It's about 15/20 miles either way to a theatre, and about 25 miles to the "sophisticated" film theatre. We don't go to any movies much any more, too expensive! I'm turning into such a homebody I prefer my couch and pj's any day!

One 4-way stop sign on Main Street and NO theatre for about 45 miles. At that point you are in the city and there are multi-plex types all over. There's still one (two-screen) drive-in in the city too. When you add gas to the price of the ticket (and popcorn), well we don't go much. My son LOVES going to the movies and keeps us "informed" :) about what's out there.

No movie theatre here. sad but true. I am not big on them as I always seem to get everyones virus. I do like drive ins and wished we had one of those. But sadly we do not. On the upscale there is one two hours away! I find lots of other things to do not really much into tv either. |

Where I live (a town of 30,000 people, so pretty large), there is a movie theatre, but would you believe there are no stop lights? They don't 'believe' in them here - think they cause traffice congestion. I'm not really sure how they figure that one out!
Even though we have a movie theatre, I have only been to it twice in the last three years. I'd much prefer to wait for the DVD to come out. Although I will make an exception in two weeks when Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix comes out!

There are no movie theatres in town, but two are within 20 minutes from here. We hardly go because we've signed up for Netflix - it's a really great service. (And it's so much cheaper than actually going to the movies!)

Oh gosh Frannie, I don't think I have been to a drive-in since High School. What a great memory. I have not seen one in ages. I'm going to do a google search and see if I can find one in my area.

the drive in in Barstow,CA is still open. I remember seeing Lady and the Tramp at the drive in. Taking brown paper bags of popcorn and folding chairs!
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!

Our local theater "The Palo" closed in the 80's. The last movie I saw there was "Creature from the Black Lagoon"-the orignal with 3-d glasses handed out at the door! There were a total of 6 people in the theater that night when the projector literally fell off the stand in the projection room! That was the end of that. The place had old itchy red wool seats and heavy velvet curtains up front. It was wonderful.
The last drive-in theater (The Y & W) in my area closed in the early 80's. It still sit's, empty and forlorn, with grass poking up thought the pavement & the big screen's paint fading to gray.
As a side note... my husband remembers going to "drive-in church" on Sunday mornings with his grandfather, near Clearmont FL, in the 60's. You pulled in, got your communion cup at the ticket counter, and listened to the sermon on the radio. How funny is that!?

Yeah, but I live in Chicago. LOL, I don't think I count! ;-) Though, I do wish we had a drive-in theater. We certainly don't have any of those near here!

Nope. Tombstone used to have a theater but not anymore. Sierra Vista is the closest they used to have a drive in.(16 miles). Here in Junction City there is a twoplex.
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!

Just FYI you will also need a special liscence in order to reshow movies without violating copyright and piracy laws. The liscence is QUITE expensive!

We don't even have a stop light here, either! We have to drive an hour to the nearest theater in Boise. One of our little mom & pop grocery stores carries videos, so that's not so bad. We can drive over the mountain to the other side of our county (1 hour drive also) to watch really good plays that are very well acted at an outdoor ampitheater.
I had an idea about running movies in our park on Saturday nights and charging a buck or two. I think it would go over really big here. Especially if the movies were family oriented. However, the machine to be able to project a movie is rather expensive. So it just remains a dream for now.

We don't have a stoplight OR a movie theater here either...but I guess alot of years ago there was one here. We go 7 miles to Ephraim and there are both a very old one screen and a very new 2 screen theater. It is 20 miles to a drive in ..we go there at least a couple times in the summer..the kids love it. I havn't been to see a movie that isn't a cartoon or superhero flick in awhile though, I am due to see a chick flick I thinK!!!

Hometown had a theater but we rarely went. The first movie I ever saw was Mary Poppins. Found out that someone at home said they are restoring it. It has been closed for a long time. Now living in Spokane we have plenty of movies to go see if we ever had the money....HHHHEEEEHEEEHEEE

My home town had a movie theater with two screens. It always seemed to take a while for the new movies to get there, but I have lots of fond memories of going to the movies as a kid.
Her in Moscow we have 3 movie theaters. 2 that show the mainstream movies, and one that shows the foriegn films and older movies.

My hometown doesn't even have a stop light! (unless you count the red light on the RR Crossing) Our closest movies theatre is 30 minutes away. Closest video rental is 20 minutes away!

Actually, it's true--my dh isn't much into going to the theater, so I await them patiently on dvd and then we park it for a night.
When I'm with girlfriends, we go to the Esquire Theater in Clifton (in the Gaslight District) for anyone who ever makes it there, for arthouse films.
