e-mail me to see the pics .. be sure to tell me you want to see the pics of our 'boat float' in your e-mail. xo

here's the 'story ' of it:

On June 12th .. honey-hunk's birthday .. he planned a 'surprize' outing for the two of us .. our first canoe ride down our awesome Green River. We stopped at the grocery store and got sammies, chips, an apple, orange, one slice of cheesecake (to share) and iced tea and water.

I just love that our river is only about 15 minutes from our home ..

Here i am .. a little 'apprehensive' at the beginning of our 'float' .. i tried to find two or three life-vests
to wrap around my body and up and down my legs!
Much to my glee .. the water level was DOWN cuz' we haven't had much rain lately .. not more than about 6 inches deep in most places!! STILL i kept that vest on!!!!

A lazy float .. with stops here and there to jus' relax in the sun or the shade.

a 'kodak' moment .. a magnificent nest high in tree-top!

the banks were mostly lush and green all long the way ..
with an occasional cow or six grazing up on the hillside.

a 'KENTUCKY HAMMOCK' .. an olde matress laid across 'ropes' tied
to two trees! what a giggle!

i LOVED this encampment we passed with flags flying! it was
abandoned .. i loved how we would pass an occasional home now and then
.. and even once, there was a lovely 'deck-chair' just sitting at the water's
edge waiting for someone to come 'set a spell'.

as we approached this bridge i saw a ba-jillion birds flying over
and under it .. as we floated under .. there were hundreds of
these 'bird nest cocoons'!

it was about a six hour float .. paddling sometimes .. jus' letting
the gentle current take us down river sometimes.

we nibbled our chips t'il the bag was empty .. and then i ate the
orange and hank had the apple .. a couple hours later we were both
getting 'hongry' and those sammies were soundin' GOOD!

so .. we stopped at a lovely little bank .. and dug into the bag .. and discovered that we had FORGOTTEN the sammies
on the counter at the grocery store!

PANIC!!! --- THREE MORE HOURS TO CIVILIZATION ..
soooo .. i had to keep a close watch on my 'sugars'.
(i figgered i could always go graze grass with those cows if need be!) needless to say i did NOT SHARE that cheesecake slice!!!!!

when we docked .. we went to the grocery store .. got our sammies
and went to our adorable town 'garden' and had our picnic!

What a fun day ... right afterwards .. i headed 'nawth' to meet up
with some gurlfrenz to start our week-long 'shoppin' trip through OHIO!

(Be sure to watch for the next issue of Mercantile Gatherings .. cuz' i'm gonna' write all about it with lotsa' pictures!)
