It's been five years since I attended the Santa Barbara Writers Conference and shared my "apron project," a curiosity and focus I'd been working on since 1999. I'll be back at the Conference this year, but this time as a presenter! My talk is titled One Homemaker's Apron Bender from Wistful Thinking to Published Reality.
If you'd like to learn how The Apron Book came to be, I take the stage Wednesday, June 27 at 4 pm. This event is open to the public and tickets may be purchased at the Conference/Fess Parker Resort.

Tie One On...an apron, of course!

Oh, I've got pictures alright :-)
It was a lot of fun! I will post them on my blog before Sunday. I'm still kind of tired from the parade and all that it entails, but I am looking forward to getting them posted.
Oh, for those of you that are not here in Santa Barbara you can check out her website and find out where she'll be and there's also a traveling apron exhibit going around the US. Her website is:
www.apronmemories.com
During the workshop she was talking about the importance of taking the opportunity to talk about your product whenever you get the chance and was looking at different avenues. She said that she'd googled herself and found the MJ website and my posting and then...she pointed me out to everyone!! It was very sweet! She couldn't get over the power of the website/posting. She is looking for stories on specific things and will be doing more postings soon, so keep your eyes open.
What a lovely person! Nice as can be, too and funny. She fits right in here.
Aaaaaah! a lovely afternoon for sure.

Welcome EllynAnne! I'm glad you found this group. We LOVE our aprons! You should check out the thread of all of us wearing aprons in, ah..'interesting' places. It's a lot of fun.
I am enthralled with the book. I've had it for a while now and keep going back to it. What wonderful stories and pictures. I will be at the workshop tomorrow. I'll take pictures for y'all...if it's ok with Ms. Geisel :-). I've even got a couple of aprons picked out to wear:-)

Too much of a good thing is wonderful.

Welcome EllynAnne! I got your book as soon as I heard about it. It was not a disappointment at all and will not be passed on to friends to share. This is mine and won't be leaving the house! :) I have told everyone about it and many friends have purchased it as well. Thanks for sharing the memories, patterns and good feelings!

Welcome to you, EllynAnne. I happened to pick up your book on a trip to Cincinnati. (Where it was all about me and my sister- so no guilt!) ;)
It is such a happy book and a great jumping off place for apron creativity. So glad you have joined us here at the farm!

EllynAnne,
A hugh WELCOME to you.
Yes, I am a proud owner of your book, received it as a Christmas gift from my DH, I left him enough hints!!!
In fact if you take a moment to look at my blog & scroll down to the picture of my vintage blenders, you'll notice your, I mean my,,,apron book...LOL! If ya click on the picture you'll be able to see it better.
I hope you will continue to join in on the chats & let us know what's going on in the Apron World.
I wish I could attend the conference in S.B., but unfortunatly I have to work that day, bummer. I hope you have a wonderful turnout.

Oh, wonderful! welcome! I have been anxiously waiting my turn with your book from the library. I am almost to the top of the hold list :) Santa Barbara is a lovely area... too bad it's not closer to WA I'd certainly like to attend.
Will there perhaps be tapes available of your presentation?
