Posted - Jun 20 2007 : 09:14:29 AM We have a boxer puppy and have yet to name her. Poor thing is nameless. I've come up with a few, Dixie, Heidi, Hilda, (something German??? maybe) Lala, Lady, naaahhhh. I love a name that has loads of personality. But this time I'm just stumped. Can't think of a thing. Years ago we had a dog named "Belvedere", we have a german shepherd I named "Ambush", just some examples to help you help me come up with an awesome name!!! Can't wait to hear what you all come up with!!! Tracey, where are you at? I know you'll have a good one! She has a great personality, she's sweet and playful, and very curious. She's very loving and loves attention. She is very smart too!

There is nothing like a new puppy! She sounds adorable. How about naming her Curious Georgia? Just a thought.

Posted - Jun 21 2007 : 10:15:01 PM Mikki -- get ahold of Patricia (Utahfarmgirl) and see if she can "read" what name the dog should be. I have a cat we've been calling Black Kitty for 5 years. Patricia met her and said that the cat wanted to be called Essie.

Posted - Jun 21 2007 : 7:22:49 PM My daughter just found 2 discarded puppies in the past 2 weeks. We kept one and gave my sister one. Mine is a beagle/something that my daughter named Jupiter (that's a cross street near where she was found) but I call her JuJuBean. My sister's is a chow/something. It is gray with black stripes like a tiger. He was found in NC but my sis lives in NY so she named him Beauregard (Bo for short) in honor of his southern roots! We just got back from the puppy delivery. My vet said that place is a dumping ground for unwanted kittens and puppies. I can't believe some people:( Good luck with the names, it took days to come up with ours! Merle

Posted - Jun 20 2007 : 4:19:13 PM I usually name my dogs neat old people names. Right now I have Frank, Stella and Maggie (Maggie came with her name, but it fits her) and my cats are Pumpkin, Alice and Fiona...The sheep are Juliet and Trixie and the angora goat is Pearl. Our rabbit is Toby. Then of course there is Mona the cow and her calf Evelyn. Hmmmmm, a boxer..I love them by the way....Sheba sounds like a boxer name to me.

Posted - Jun 20 2007 : 3:55:37 PM With her history and where you found her I figure she is in "A League of Her Own", did you see that movie? How wonderful that she will have a loving home with you. I seem to be on a movie theme here because now thinking of her being a boxer I thought of "Million Dollar Baby"...hmmm!or maybe since she is a champ she could be Champagne!!!LOL Anyway, I am enjoying reading everyone's suggestions! peapodjane |

There's some people that like boating so they named there 2 porteguese water dogs after parts on a boat. Do you guys have any hobbies like that, that you could name her after?

Posted - Jun 20 2007 : 11:15:16 AM Oh Bluewren you made me laugh so hard with Grandma and peeing in the front yard!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mikki, how great that you and your family take care of the animals that need rescueing and provided a home for her. Since you found her at the ball park, she could be Short Stop, or Third Base or like alee said Dug out. Whatever you come up with it will be perfect. Carol Sue
Life is short, enjoy every moment. |

Posted - Jun 20 2007 : 11:01:23 AM How about "Dug Out" since she was found at the ball park?
or Noel (Don't know why- just like it I guess!) I like Layla too. Hmm, I will have to ponder some more!
I named my first dog Seanee and my second dog is named Obsidian Sky Demonicus (the last as a joke) but we just call her Sky.

Posted - Jun 20 2007 : 10:57:21 AM Oh, a boxer, you will love her. My daughter raises boxer and they are undoubtedly the sweetest dogs. I have always liked Moxley, and I love the name Wheezer from Steel Magnolias, and then there is Shelby also. I would bet there is a good Irish name for someone who was lost and is now found. Anyway, be sure to let us know what you decide. Kathy

Posted - Jun 20 2007 : 10:55:12 AM Speaking of naming animals with location names....
A couple of years ago we ended up finding a bunch of kittens and all of them ended up staying with us...
One, found in on the roof (and who happens incidently to LOVE climbing trees - she's fearless) became "Ginger" (for her color) but is just as often called "Birdie".
One was seen stranded in the middle of an eight lane freeway. DH raced across four lanes to grab her, then raced back across. Her name is "Freeway," and her nickname "Freebie" reminds us how "the most expensive kitten is a free one..."
"Grandma" our boxer was named thus because she was more than 10 years old when DH found her. She lived another 8 years or so after that and her name was PERFECT for her. Incontinent, arthritic, cranky, slept a lot, unconditional love, and very slow but sure could move fast when her favorite humans visited.

Posted - Jun 20 2007 : 10:36:50 AM I like the name "Bella" for some reason. Kind of brings out her loving feminine traits. Or if she's kind of free spirited something like "Sasha" These also keep the german aspect I think.
