Found a pie bird at the thrift, I almost never see them, so either I'am not paying attention or they are hard to find. Got four good books so that should keep me busy, and a new picture of how my flowers are coming along. And my front porch bird and birdhouse cart. Think I will add some plants to it and then its full.

Just an add...because I can't find a cool Pie Bird like Nancy, I use cut up plastic kids straws....does the same thing, though not NEARLY as cool as a pie bird!

That is the coolest pie bird. My mother in law had a pie bird, a blackbird, we have it now. My dh loves to bake.
Great finds.

Alee, you put the bird in the middle of a pie when baking, and it lets out "steam" through its beak! Helps to keep the pie from bubbling over! Clever, isn't it?! They have been around for years.

I saw the picture, but could someone please explain to me what a pie bird is/does? I think it is adorable though!

Pie birds are WONDERFUL! I think that folks don't know what to do with them. Lucky you that you found that little cutie in the thrift.

I wish people got rid of cool stuff around here--seems like it's just 1980's clothes!
p.s. I JUST now got the brief done..Mr. Fed Ex came to the door and I handed it off. Nothing like working on something from 8:30 til now!

I've NEVER seen a pie bird here in a thrift store, either. That's a really pretty one, Nancy Jo.
