A friend of mine is having a gathering of church women (Unitarian-Universalists) at her home next week and just sent out a message to us all to:

"Be on the look-out for miracles. A friend once [told her] that a miracle can be as simple as a 1% change in perception. Let's be on the look-out and share a miracle next week."

Wow! I'm all over it and already have a little list brewing in my head today, but I want to take time to think on it this week and really pay attention to each day from now until then to see what miracles light my path.

Some of the Farmgirls here are religious and some are not. Please know that I'm not asking for this to be a religious discussion, as the "who" behind the miracles can be very personal.

I am very curious though, about what miracles my fellow Farmgirl friends are experiencing in their lives all over this world...right now, today, this week.

Do share!

Catherine

This is so cool. Our family looks for, experiences & gives thanks for miracles everyday!!!
Not just the big ones, but the little ones (ie.- sun coming out between the clouds, etc)
I have found that the more graditude I show the more miracles I experience.

Thank you MaryAnn for starting up this topic.

Blessings,

Mary Ann-

Wow! What a great story! At least once you were only a few miles from home you could have unloaded and ridden home if you had to! But when you were so far from home, it could have been really bad! Especially if your horse is spooky by traffic.

I have to tell you about this one. It happened a few years ago, so I hope it's still of use to you.

I was at a show with my sweet gelding, Forrest Gump. The show grounds were about an hour and a half north of me close to a big town. I took the interstate up, and Forrest showed extremely well. (Four firsts and a second!) On our way back, one of the indicator lights came on and said my alternator was in trouble. I was really far from home, and with the temps running in the low nineties I worried that if I had to pull over and wait for help, my horse would cook in the trailer. (My trailer was fully insulated, and it gets hot in there when you're not moving.) Also, pulling over on the side of a busy road and unloading is really dangerous too. So I decided to just watch it and keep going.

On I went toward home, with the light in the danger area. I also needed to stop for gas really badly, but was scared that if I did that perhaps my truck wouldn't start again. I was about fifteen miles from home.

I exited the interstate, bypassed the only gas station between there and my house, and kept going, watching the indicator slide deeper and deeper into the red. I offered up the kazillionth prayer that I get my horse home safely.

I couldn't believe it. I pulled into my driveway, and as I slowly coasted into the spot where I always park, my truck coughed and finally quit by itself. I shifted into Park, unloaded my horse and tended to him, and gave thanks that I was able to get my horse home safely.

Later I told my hubby what had happened. He asked me to start the truck so he could hear and see what might have gone wrong. When I turned the key, gobs of black smoke billowed out. I shut 'er down and had it towed for service the next day.

Now, I know that the troubles of one old lady and a big bay gelding don't really amount to a hill of beans in the world. That's what makes it all the more touching to me, that Someone smiled on me and listened to my prayers anyhow.

Catherine, love the idea of looking for miracles. Sometimes though we may not actually know about them. I wonder if some miracles are 'under the radar' so to speak. Like when your car breaks down and so you were late for work and missed the accident or flood or whatever. That would be a miracle and you may never know! Can you imagine, they could be happening all the time! Mind boggling! I think we sometimes limit our expectations of life and should learn to expect miracles (all the time!) not just for us but for evryone! What an awesome way to live!
Thanks for the insightful suggestion!! Angie.

Everyday I have Nora is a miracle to me. Hmm... that makes it sound like she is sick or something- which she isn't! It's just children are so amazing and I never really was one who wanted children before. She completely changed how I look at life. She is such a little baby (not yet 3 months old) but she teaches me things everyday!
