I'm at work...my dh is at the farm - where today, finally, WATER LINES are going to be installed from the well to the FARMHOUSE(and hopefully, to the trailer)!! But lately, I'm feeling beyond impatient. It's taken YEARS to get even this far. I want to LIVE in my farmhouse....not have my ashes scattered there! LOL! I need to put this project on wheels and get it ROLLING! :D I'm going to call today and set up an appointment for a furnace contractor to come out. And I'm resolving the following:
I WILL move into the trailer NO LATER than early fall if the house isn't done by then!!!!!!

Your dilema has helped me. I am not the only one in the remodeling boat. My husband is physically challenged so things take us a little longer. He was a carpenter, took a 26 ft fall and lived, over 16 years ago. We are so glad we still have him. Aren't there times you want to pull your hair out and say, just give me something that is finished in here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had one of those break downs a couple of months ago. But here is the thing, there will always be things to get done, so I can fret over it, or I can figure out what my next step is. Sometimes they are really small steps, but that is okay. Also having to remember it is a journey, not just a destination. Am I learning to be thankful along the way? I do have a roof over my head, I do have my honey still with me, I do have my daughter's family close. So remodeling and dealing with all of its challenges are temporary> Hey you have to give yourself a pep talk in the midst of it all. Keep going one step at a time.
You post made me laugh, there are lots of other nuts out there like us!

Thanks for the tip about the automotive rubbing compound! I am going to try that on my bathtub when I get back from my trip to Wyoming. Our bathtub has horrible scratches in it from people overusing a pumice stone on it. I hope it helps!

I'll be keeping good thoughts for you and the bank meeting, Anne. And I once cleaned my mom's old porcelain tub with automotive rubbing compound. She wanted to have it refinished and my dad balked at the cost. Surprisingly, a lot of the surface smaller scratches were minimized/disappeared and the tup improved so much my mom was happy with it. We all need to post pictures! I'm so excited about you refinishing doors, I'm getting the energy to do it myself! I'm feeling so much better and encouraged/energized! Thanks, everybody! :D

Yippee Janice -
Sounds like the "wheels" are starting to turn for you. We have our bank meeting this weekend so we will see what that produces - I am really getting anxious waiting to start ripping into our upstairs bathroom. Just like all of you, I love to salvage things for the house - thing is we just have to shop in our own house. We save all the solid wood doors and are refinihing them as we do rooms. I do have a claw foot tub in the bathroom we are about to remodel - so that will get cleaned up and re-used, etc.
Just can't wait to get started.

Carol Sue - The mobile home we have is 1970's vintage and the exact same size as yours! :D And you sound SO MUCH like me! I love it! LOL! You and Anne have made me feel not so alone. It's comforting to know there are others out there like me. I have picked up my porcelain kitchen sink from a curbside junk pickup. Same with my french doors. The list goes on. But isn't it fun to 'repurpose' and save good stuff? If you can post pictures of your cool finds, I'd love to see them. :)

Yippppeeeee Skippppeeee. It always makes you feel better when something starts moving forward. My DH and I live in a 12x60 older mobile. You think with something so small that we could get our acts together. I am sitting her laughing. Nope, but you sure have fun in the process. We have salvaged stuff from 3 houses that were being demolished. I have sitting in my backyard, fir flooring, kitchen sink. On my small backporch is more of the flooring, kitchen cupboards from the 40's, some trim for around our doors. Okay on my very small front porch sits our barbeque along with a claw foot bath tub. Yes, you did read this right. A claw foot bathtub that was a major find. Some day when the time and money get together, it will be in my house. Little by little that has been happening over the last 7 years.
What would life be without it's challenges. Probably boring!!!!!!!!
I sure can relate to the I do not want to wait for this anymore. Keep hanging in there.

Whooooooo Hoooo!!! That is wonderful!! I do so know what you mean... I am not old or even close but have been planning and wanting this for so LONGGGGGGGGGG I feel just downright frustrated and down in the dumps that it has to go on hold for another year and a half to two years!!!! *sigh*    .....  well as they say chin up and all that right?!? I am so very very happy for you and I so LIVE for these happy moments of joy and good news from those of you who are getting there or are there!!! So thank you for sharing and making my day brighter! I do so hope things move along quickly!

That is good. At least you are now seeing progress.
We have been planning our retirement home for around , let's see.
3 years !!
Yep. We had to cut the size down a whole lot.
We are now in our final drawings.
We will be building on our land on a family divied farm.

Hooray! Happy dance today! :D Work has started and the contractor promised to have EVERYTHING done in two or three weeks. He is fitting us in between jobs he has already promised to do. Today, he replaced the well pump. At least for now, I can hook up a hose to the well and have water to the trailer without enough leaks to fill a small pond. Our well goes down 200 feet! It seems they originally drilled down to 110 feet before they found water. I'm glad we didn't have to pay for all that drilling!

I know how you feel. I don't live on a farm but I live in a very old house. We made great progress the first 2 to 3 years we lived here. Remodeling the living room, dining room, front entry and one upstairs bedroom. Replaced the electrical and did work outside in the yard. Then we came to a halt. Now it has been 10+ years and I want to finish this house. I don't want to be sixty + and still remodeling. I finally gave DH a push this year and said time for a new bathroom. We have a meeting with the bank this weekend to look at loan options - so if all goes well we will get the loan that works for us and we will get a new bathroom, a new furnace, an architectual plan for the rest of the house and possibly some blown in insulation into some of the walls. Sometimes you have more time then money to do things - but I am not that patient!
