I just got a phone call from her. Her dr. said she was in worse shape than she was two months ago even with all they've done. Her arteries are in bad bad shape in her neck and legs. They are going to be running more tests but he said he didnt' think he could find a dr. that would operate on the right side of her neck because she's had cancer twice in her neck and lung cancer. But all the radiation and the surgery on the right side of her neck was so extensive it's left quite a bit of damage. The dr. said it was like she was in a barrel going down Niagara Falls. I didn't like the sound of it at all. I'm just devastated, please pray for my mom's health and healing. I greatly appreciate it and I am so grateful I have all of you to come to and I can depend on your prayers.

~~Blessings, Mikki Jo

I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom's troubles, Mikki.

I have to say, it sounds like the doctor has the bedside manner of your average badger!

Please know that I am lifting you and your mom up in prayer.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. I cut a big bouquet of roses from my rosebush this afternoon and put them in a basket and took them to my mom. She just loved them. My baby sis and I spent all day and evening with my parents just enjoying being with each other. We're a very very close family, and we love to spend time together. It's always special.

Mikki,
My thoughts with you and the family, it's so hard on everyone. Just found out today my stepmom's husband (remarried after my dad died many years ago) has stage 4 lung cancer and it's in the liver too. Takes a lot of strength to get through these rough times with our parents...or anyone we care about.
Do the best you can for her and know that she will understand and appreciate. My mother told me I'd have no regrets or guilt when she was gone, because I did all I could for her..and she was right. My dad has been gone 31 years and this man has been a part of the family for 28 years. Ironically, his mother's name was the same as mine and her birthday same as mine...I think that's been an extra bond for us.
You're so right, this wonderful group is a safe place to vent and get encouragement regardless of the situation.
Treasure each and every day, it does help now and later.
Hugs,
Ronna

Mikki,
you and your mother are in my prayers. Also your son. You know, I did all of those things in your poem when my mother was so ill. The squirrels in the trees outside of her window gave her such joy during her last weeks. They were so funny, and made Mom laugh, so I will always be greatful to those little creatures. Also the birdsongs every day, and Rachel Ray's show....little blessings and gifts along the way from unexpected places....that is what you and your mother need to grasp and hold onto while you hold on to each other.

Love, peace, blessings and prayer being sent your way!

Thanks Libbie, Tina and Alyssa. I talked to her awhile ago and they have made an appt. for a dye test and a bunch of blood work. She's in good spirits. She's been thru a lot the past few years with 3 bouts of cancer and all that goes with that. Again I thank you all, when things get hard it's nice having a soft place to fall. You all are the best. I thank Maryjane for having this sweet haven to come to, to rest and be refreshed. While at my little cabin yesterday, I felt that little tug at my heart, the kind you feel when you know God is speaking to your spirit. I felt the need to pray. I knelt down on my knees and I prayed for my family, I thanked God for all He has done for me and all He is going to do. I prayed for the health of my parents, the safety of a son whom I've not heard from in almost a month. It's hard when things are out of our hands to not worry. After that quiet time I wrote a poem which I shared with you all then, but I'm going to go ahead and post it again here. I hope you dont mind.

The inventions we’ve created in comparison are pale
To things that God has given us to numerous to tell
Please let me show you, if you will but listen
Turn off, turn down and unplug our witty inventions

I unplugged the radio with the blaring tune
And listened to the songbirds sing something new
It was a song so sweet and they were all on key
It was a gentle soothing song that God wrote just for me

I turned off the T.V. with the violence and shame
And instead watched my children busily at play
They were very entertaining and it made my heart glad
To know God has blessed me with all that I have

I turned off the air and sat in the shade of the trees
And enjoyed the coolness of the feather soft breeze
I sat there so still and said a short but silent prayer
Simply thanking God for His breath of fresh air

Finally I unplugged the phone that rudely interrupts
And carries false and vicious tales entirely too much
Gently in my heart spoke that still small voice
I’d have never heard Him had I not turned off the noise
