i'm always talkin' about the Six Degrees of Separation ... soooo ... i thought i'd post a little sumpthin' about it that i found on the internet:

Six degrees of separation refers to the idea that, if a person is one "step" away from each person he or she knows and two "steps" away from each person who is known by one of the people he or she knows, then everyone is no more than six "steps" away from each person on Earth. Several studies, such as Milgram's small world experiment have been conducted to empirically measure this connectedness. While the exact number of links between people differs depending on the population measured, it is generally found to be relatively small. Hence, six degrees of separation is somewhat synonymous with the idea of the "small world" phenomenon.

There's really only 3 people I want to meet in my life-
Bette Midler- that woman has pipes and a bodacious attitude
Martha Stewart- learned everything about entertaining from her
MaryJane Butters- what can I say- she's my inspiration and Queen Bee

I have a friend who has a degree of kinship with Burt Reynolds. They get Christmas cards from him every year.

It is amazing to see how many different connections there can be!

I have talked to our lovely Miz Frannie a couple times and some of you wonderful gals here.

After I had knee surgery in 1982 I was sitting on my porch at Chautauqua and these two guys walked by- one asked to sign my cast. It was Neil Sedaka. Also met there Tom Hulce- who became a good friend, Rob Lowe and then girlfriend Sarah Gilbert. That was the place to meet the famous people I tell you but all in all- my favorite had to be Tom Hulce. I worked at a deli and he would come in for lumch- if we were too busy I would have him come back and make his own. He was a great guy.

oh gosh you gals are gonna shoot me..but ya'll are all tied to Wal-mart as I met Sam Walton back in the 80's..LOL ok ok put down the spatulas or whatever, don't choke me with an apron string...LOL seriously though back when I met Mr. Walton he was a very nice man, and I remember him telling the employees this statement"you should always put God first, your family next, then if you have a job, your job that you do next..in that order."
ok let me see who else I'm connected with..
I've talked to Miz Frannie here on the phone once.
Some of you gals write for our magazine and keep in touch with me via emails.
So..I guess I have some pretty good connections.

Ok Beth! My mom won a trip to Los Angeles and a pace car ride, and she rode with....PAUL NEWMAN!!! Her idol, and yes, a man I have dreamt about before (but I only dream about "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" Era Paul Newman).

I'm kin to William Katt and Tom Cruise (very distantly!) I've met Woody Harrelson (he went to college in my hometown), Emeril Lagasse(he's on the board of directors of the culinary school I went to), and Gordon from Sesame Street (I was 2!)

My mom, however, is close to John Provost, who played Timmy on "Lassie." She is also close to his wife, Laurie Jacobson, a Hollywood historian. Her "Lassie" research into her Lassie book and collection has also allowed her to have many conversations with June Lockhart as well.

Paul Newman made me dinner- ok well he made it for my best friends parents but they invited me to stay and eat. He does have great eyes! Oh and the same friend's Godfather is Luciano Pavarotti. Dad was a big opera singer in NYC and mom a great voice coach.

My father was a golfing buddy of Louis Prima, and knew Keelie Smith (I know, these are REALLY old people, but if you're from Louisiana...)

I used to take ballet class with Mikhail Baryshnikov in NYC, after he retired from American Ballet Theater, when his knees were shot. A fews years later, I quite literally knocked him over while walking, reading a book in downtown Cincinnati...

Pete Rose (the VERY one who bet on baseball) used to eat french fries with me in the Press Box at Latonia Racecourse, when my father was the State Steward there. Pete (and a bunch of Cincinnati Bengal Players) were there every Thursday night. Anyone connected to him? His bookee, maybe?

I used to know a crafts designer/artist/dollmaker named Alma Lynne. She was a lively, blonde, friendly and funny girl....that is how I think of you, Frannie.

My sister knows Keith, she lost her daughter to Cystic Fibrosis, we've went backstage to see him numerous times. He is a VERY decent human being, I hope his life is happy now. jo

Okay, here you go...this will make you laugh. Through me, you are linked to Liberace! When I was growing up, my step-mom worked for him at his museum in Las Vegas. Oh, and his brother George too. She used to visit with them all the time, and invited them over for lasagne one time... Of course, they're all gone now...does it count if people have passed away? Gosh, it has been so long since I thought about Liberace...do you remember him? Big flashy piano player?

We make a difference.

I posted this a while back but this is me and Frannies 6 degrees!

"Hey - I just figured out our 6 degrees of seperation Frannie! The high school guidence counselor at our school has a daughter who was REALLY amazing in basketball and played womens b-ball. Quite some time ago her daughter starred in some movie about womens basketball with Jada Pinket Smith! So I (1) know the guidence counselor(2), who knows her daughter(3), who knows Jada(4), who knows your daughter(5), who knows YOU(6)! Were practically SISTERS!!!! LOL"
