I got some cute things at the thrift this morning, plus another bag of jewelry. Now the lady saves it for me and I get a pretty good size bag for two dollars or less, some really nice old pieces and some junk. Any ideas what I could do with some of it? I put a picture on my blog, I guess if you click on the picture to enlarge it you can see it better. It looks pretty just sitting there, but I would like to do something with some of it.

on our boat cruise last week .. in St. Francisville .. i visited the most adorable shoppe called: Grandmother's Buttons .. and i got the owner's book by the same name .. it is WONDERFUL .. and full of idea using olde BUTTONS, beads (some of which come from already formed jewelry that you pull apart to use the beads, findings, etc.) google it and see if you can find it. it is delightful!

OH WOW!, Nancy Jo,
You scored big time! I wish I could find a bag a jewelery like you did, I zoomed in & saw a few pieces I would have bougth alone for $2.....
I like M.J.'s idea about the velvet tree. You could also get a small 12" tall christmas tree, & decorate the tree with as much "bling" as you can. you can use fine gage wire (in crafting & floral section) to tie the jewels onto each branch till you can barely see the tree anymore.... oh wow are you lucky!
Carrie's idea about framed art is also cool, or combine the two & deco the frame w/some of the jewelery & frame the more delicate pieces on velvet or morie satin & embellish with a bit of lace.
Actually, all the ideas from the ladies are terrific. That's what I luv about this fourm.
I also like your cute glitterey evening bag. I think you had wayto much fun!

My DH's Mother had a large framed Christmas Tree and it was beautiful!
Large frame.
Background was a pretty green velvet.
Shape of tree was cone shaped with a trunk.
Now the wonderful part was the tree was made up only with vintage jewelry!!! (wired on the back through the velvet).
Then they added small colored Christmas lights!

It was just stunning and she had it for many years, then it was passed on to a sibling. It was made by one of her close Relief Society friends.

Memories.....

Hugs,

Jewelery is great for embellishments on things you have crafted or that others have if you do not craft. I take the stones out. Or you could use them in frames for art.

Nancy, Looking at the beautiful pieces you have, I was reminded of a project I am saving stuff to do. It's from the book, Mothers and Daughters at Home, 35 projects to make together, by Charlotte Lyons. Tile cement and grout is slathered on a small jug or vase or whatever, then you stick what you want into the cement. The book uses small plastic toys, buttons, charms, etc. but I bet the stuff you have would look good too. If you want, I can copy the instructions and pictures and send them off to you so you could have a looksee.

you could also make stuffed heart sachets and attach various pieces of the jewelry to it along with lace for a victorian looking sachet.

how about gluing various pieces to those satin covered ornament balls to make one of a kind hanging ornaments..you can cut pieces apart and use what you want.
Also you can create other pieces by using large flat pieces and sort of "collaging" other elements onto the bigger piece with jewelry glue.
You can also use the pieces cut apart to edge a wooden photo frame or mirror.

Nancy Jo-

Those pieces of jewelry look fabulous! What fun to find such great treasures! Do you ever wear pins? Some of the nicer pieces could always be made in to pins or ordaments for various pieces of clothing. Or you could find a really great glass jar and fill it with pretty pieces or jewelry. I have seen scrap book pages that have little bits of jewelry in them. I bet you will find some really gorgeous way to display them!
