I have personally been wanting your campbell kids patterns, but right now I am strapped for money, but please keep them in your shop eventually I will be buying them! |

A lot of what Erin said is right on... being in retail myself and being a professional buyer it is not about variety in these kind of shops but uniqueness. I went to your shop and I LOVE some of the patterns ( I would so buy a set of the towels with the kids on them and the clothes/napkins with the flowerpots on them...too cute!!), problem is I do not shop for a pattern but for homemade items, so it would not interest me at this point, but there are many people who love patterns and I think if you were able to make the item stand out better, it would help greatly!! At this point you can not tell what anything is until you click on it for a larger picture, I think that could hurt you in sales and in drawing customers. But the patterns themselves I think are darling and many people would love to have them!!! I wish you the very best, and if I know of anyone in the search for patterns, I will send em your way!!

Thanks Erin. I will try that. A few of them I have done on Tea Towels. They are in my shop. I will make a few other items soon and maybe that will help. I think I am just discouraged today. Maybe i need to take a break and not worry about it and them come back later and try when i feel better. That is what is so good about my farm girl pals. They are always here to listen and help out.

Do you have a copy of some of these patterns that you purchased for yourself? Perhaps they would sell better if you actually make an item using the pattern... (I'm talking about some of the embroidery patterns..)
The key here is to use the pattern in a unique way... For example, the CAT INN pattern might be really cute done on a big soft cat pillow, or as a seat cover, or sewn on fleece as a throw to put on your arm chair...
I'd definitely recommend keeping the patterns in your shop. We just have to help you find the right way to promote your shop.

Thanks Erin The pictures are the ones the supplier gave me. Patterns are hard to show. It is funny . I bulid businneses for 25 years but internet is so different. I have tried with so many groups and nothing.Maybe this isn't what I am suppose to be doing.I will give it a few more tries.
I plan to make a few aprons soon.

I took a look at your shop because patterns are usually a good seller. It may be that you are just not promoting your shop to the right people.
Also it may be the way the items are being presented. Is there a way you might be able to present the patterns that makes them stand out more?

At ETSY it is less about having lots of items as it is about having the right items and about promoting your shop.
You have to promote, promote, promote, and reach the right buyers for your items! And unfortunately, it's a constant thing.
As a longtime ETSY buyer, I prefer shops that have a small selection of really unique items - handcrafted artsy stuff that they are really adept at making, rather than a shop that have tons and tons of items that are easily found on ebay or at my local shops.
You don't want to have too much in your shop because then it dilutes your shop's uniqueness.
The best thing about ETSY is that it is about the ARTISTS as much as the items for sale. Since ETSY was originally created as a place for artists and craftsmen to sell their wares, the "artsy" factor is really important.
If you add too many items, you don't sell them as well, nor for as high a price.
My advice - Go small and find your niche. Then promote. And the more unique an item, the better. For example, an apron made from a rare vintage print fabric or using a retro color scheme will most likely sell better than an apron made from any old fabric.
Remember, many of the folks at ETSY are artsy. Keeping that in mind, try to find out what would appeal to DIYers. It has to be something special - something they wouldn't be able to do quickly themselves.

The last time I was on it was jewelry--unique items, usually things with birds. This time, it was clothing...I'm fairly erratic, so that thing on the mainpage that highlights different items really appeals to my adhd method of shopping!

When I shop on Etsy I look for dolls, bears, afgans, and unique or fun items. I enjoy useful and whimsical things that brighten my day or thoughtful items that make me think or ponder something interesting or new or just make me feel happy! I wish you the best in your shop!
