According to our trusty Farmgirl Calendar, it's "Cluck Like a Mother Hen Day!" So, in addition to the actual, literal "clucking" I'm going to do to our little chicks (who are about half-grown now!), I will be doing some extra "clucking" over the garden and yard areas...

What kind of "clucking" will YOU be enjoying today?

XOXO, Libbie

In honor of Mother's Day, "If it's not one thing, it's your mother...

well, I actually had to go by the feed store today to get more duck feed for my little quackers and while there I oohed and awwed over the baby turkeys and bantams they had. the man there sqaid he could order me in any type of bantam or regular breed of chicken I wanted..any quantity.
so..I'm thinking I just might get some hens soon.

I am clucking over my brood of new chicks today. We got them last night (local mailman let us in the back door at the PO to get them!! ) and all 33 of them are settled in and peeping in the cellar in their brooder. I got 32 cornish cross rocks for meat birds and have one "free exotic chick". I still have good layers so I didn't order any new hens. Katiedid and I ordered together and she has both meat and laying hen chicks at her house too. We had fun rushing around between our two houses late last night getting them set up.
There are pics on my blog if you want to see them.
