I belong to one other forum online and had to recently close my account with them after 5 years of being on there. I was receiving threatening emails after I posted something that I guess just bugged someone the wrong way. I tried coming back under another user name and was openly harassed on the forums and the moderators did nothing. I would post and this person would make some snide, cheap comments and ruin the whole posting. I am all for opinions, and believe me, I actually enjoy hearing all sides, but when it gets mean and turns into harassment, I just can't take it. This website is so nice and sweet and I can always come here with all my whacky ideas and never feel threatened. I just wanted to thank you all and Mary Jane for providing a safe, positive place.

Cheers,

Heather

Oh I just love it here as well. I too refer to you girls as my friends. Even when I get something in the mail, my youngest son will say, "Mom is that from your farmgirl friends?" Too cute!
I find coming here is very relaxing. I can laugh and cry with you girls, lend a word of encouragement and get one back when needed, get great advice on any topic, and just let loose. I never knew I could feel such a way from a forum, but this isn't a forum, it's a family! Thank you farmgirls, and thank you Maryjane for joing us together, and thank you moderators for keeping it real.

I, too, have never been a part of any forum before Mary Janes and was also wary about trusting people who "chat" on the internet. Somehow, as soon as I landed here I felt safe. My dear hubby also wanted to know "who" I was spending so much time talking to (he was just kidding, cause he trusts me impeccably as I do him)....and I told him all about you guys. It's funny, I have not met any of you in person, yet I refer to my "friend" from California, or Oregon, or Utah, etc and I feel as though I know you all. I look forward to checking in each day to see what is new. I love to read your blogs and share your lives. This forum has enriched my life and makes me feel connected to something much bigger than my little world. Thank you to all of you for being open and honest and kind and encouraging....the list could go on and on. It has been an honor to get to know you all!

Heather....glad you landed here too!

Keep Smiling.....Bev

A big, hearty "Yeee Hawwwww!" coming to you from Utah! I love it here, too - and I absolutely love you gals. I SO belive that this is a very unique community of women, and it's easy for me to say how proud I am to be a part of it - I learn so much from you all, laugh with such gusto and feel sadness that travels to my core when hard times strike... you all are amazing.

XOXO, Libbie

I received an email from one of the moderator's today saying they can't post anything about what has happened, as it will start something they don't want to deal with. I told them to close my account and wipe out ALL of my postings, every single one. They are so afraid to do anything. So, now you all will get all my craziness....The funny thing is the website was about simple living....touche!!!!

Heather I am sorry you had to deal with that abuse. I really don't understand people sometimes. It takes so little energy to be kind. The only other forum I've been on was an Ebay forum those ladies could eat a person alive and they had these people they called "trolls " who would just post to start trouble! It was bizarre. I "lurked" on this one after that for a long time before I posted to see if people excepted people with opposing views. It seemed like people didn't even " go there " if you know what I mean. I liked that. Dealing with commonalities instead of differences. The ladies here are so kind and generous of heart it is trully a special forum.

Makes me wonder if these people would act the same way in person, since they can "hide" behind their emails.
Kathie Posted - May 09 2007 : 09:38:13 AM
I think I had seen you'd mentioned something about that before Heather & had felt really bad that you'd had that experience..
That is really scary isn't it?
i don't get people..
I'm nearly 47 years old.. & before writing openly to anyone here at MJF.. i have never done it before either.. it does feel really good to know that we all share the comfort that we do here.. Doesn't it?
Before this.. i don't think i would EVER have just started visiting with someone that i didn't know..
But like so many of you, i read for a while.. listened to conversations.. 'met' you through things that you all were saying..& got to know you.. & felt so at ease in jumping in..
Too bad there really are so many whacked people out there that make life so difficult ..
Sorry they spoiled it for you.. but.. their loss.. our gain..

Take care sweetie..

Kathie

Yes, the website I belonged to was supposed to be civilized and open to discussion, but as of late, I realized it is very one sided and anti-military. I just was so saddened but I can come here and NOT BE AFRAID!!! : )

Sweet Harvest Homestead Posted - May 09 2007 : 09:09:19 AM
It is such a good place, here at the MJF site.
I was on a forum that was supposed to be about Christian Motherhood and being a good wife. I don't think that I have ever seen such mean and personal attacks from anywhere as I saw at that site.

This feels like home. Nice, friendly and comfortable.

I love this forum also. It is the place I always go when I want to have a chat or visit with some friends. I too have been part of other online communities that are not moderated or where the moderators don't care. I think we are all very lucky to have each other and such a wonderful place to gather. Thanks MaryJane! And thank you Ladies!

Totally! I was never into the internet thing until this forum-I think it's actually improved my typing !!! Anyway, it's kinda funny since I've always shown absolutely no interest in computers or the internet and now spend WAY to much time here-I think my husband thought I was having an affair online or something! I think he couldn't believe that it's just a bunch of really nice gals who like aprons, homemaking and gardening! LOL!

That's scary! I visit other forums just to read and there were a couple that had very angry posters and it got out of hand. In cyberspace you really don't know who you're dealing with and I always like to visit before I sign up. You're right! This forum is a pleasure!

Welcome Heather
I am so sorry that you had such an horrible time at another site but what I have found is those who have to attack or be offened by other ideas from other are themselves frightened little people. It is a fact in life that those who have to attack are those who feel they are at risk of being attacked. Open minds do not have to close doors on others. I am glad your here with all your wacky ideas because those of us who live on the "Funny Farm" are always wacky.
