Just to get an idea of who is here in Texas, let's do a shout out. Please list not only your name and city, but also what part of the state that city lies - like South TX near Houston, North Texas, West Texas, The Hill Country, etc...

That way maybe we can find folks who want to band together as a farm girl group.

I'm Erin, and I live in Dallas and Hillsboro (Dallas is in North TX, Hillsboro in N. Central Texas near Waco.)

catscharm,
i think the deadline for entering the pincushion contest is july, 1. so you will probably need to enter it before you make the move to texas, and you might want to bunch up with a chapter from the calif. area.
after you arrive in texas, i would love for you to come to whatever gathering we are having at that time. this way i think we will keep the rules of the contest, but you could check with libbie or one of the other mj folks.

of course, as i read it everyone can evter, you dont have to enter thru a chapter.

catscharm,
of course you will be included.we are not excluding any one, or picking anyone. several of us here in texas, i think have tried to form a chapter, individually and have had a hard time because of the size of texas, so because of the pincushion contest i think those of us that are at least a little closer together have become inspired to band together and finally form a chapter and maybe enter the contest as a group at the same time.
anywho, that is my understanding. i would love for you to be in the group, and count yourself in, but i do need to tell you that you are about 3-4 hours away and their could be a group closer when you finally get to san marcos, as you probably know.
for the purpose of the contest i think you can enter as an individual from any where but if you enter as a member of the chapter, (and i use that term loosely until we gather) i think you would have to be in the state.
where are you by the way? and why are you settling in san marcos?
not that thats a bad thing i would love to settle in san marcos. if the other girls read this please give an opinion about what i posted.

you're in connie and glad to hear from you.
sorry it took me so long to respond but my computer was acting up, it let me "listen in" but i couldnt type in.
so now we're 3
1.fran
2.erin
3.connie
hope we get more but this is a good start.
right now we are a cyberspace chapter but hope we can meet up and have a face to face meeting soon. i love your idea , connie about the name. can we use it and then if at any time you decide to switch to a closer chapter you can have the rights to take the name with you.

okay,
iam the worst at organizing, just take a look at my closets, or my living room for that matter.
i'm open to suggestions on this, and as i said before , i dont have to be the leader.
i think we are all spread out so much that i dont know about regular meetings , but maybe just to email me and say i want to be a part of this chapter and we can go form there. now, woa
is me where did i put the chapter packet.
okay, lets get official. if you want to join the mj chapter in north texas, just email me.
i do like the name that was suggested by connie and after i get an idea of how many we have and where they are located i will post some ideas about where we might gather for our first get together.
until that time i think we should post here to firm everything up.
of couse i would love to have the gathering here but that will be up to the farmgirls.
in the meantime i will check out the chapter info again and see whats up with that.
thanks,
fran

Alto is in East Texas. It is one hour south of Tyler, about 25 minutes west of Nacogdoches. I lived in Nacogdoches for 33 years and moved to Alto 3 years ago. You may have even seen our farm on the news. Pieces of the space shuttle fell on our property.

I will be in Weatherford, TX...just outside of Ft. Worth...from the middle of May through the end of June. If you all have a get together, I would love to visit while I am around.

I'm probably too far from Bonham in Hillsboro, but would love to join the Bonham chapter while I still live in Dallas.

It looks like there is at least four or five of us here in N. TX - how do we join your chapter, Fran?

Hey Farm Girls

I have not posted in months, but I am back! I am Connie K., and I live in rural Parker County near the small town of Springtown. I live about 45 miles Northwest of Fort Worth, but I work in northeast Fort Worth near Watauga and Keller. This, of course, is all in North Texas.

A few years ago, I tried to start a chapter and called it the HOWDY Y'ALL chapter. It really did not go "anywhere", but I would love to try again with any name that we select.

I don't have a lot of computer access right now so if anyone wants to email me privately, I will send you my cell phone #.

i live north of bonham, closer to ravenna, in north texas.
erin, i have a farmgirl chapter, but i'm the only one in it.
i was wondering if those of us in this area should ban together for the pincushion contest? or maybe now would be a good time to really activate a chapter. i dont have to be the leader, i just thought more folks would be up in this area and of course everyone is so spread out.
